B18c1

Post by jmbergin »

Good evening please excuse the inexperience very new to this. I have a 91 hatch built for circle track racing. Car has a built B18c1 run on a p28 s300. I will attach build sheet, car was tuned on a dyno and ran great. We have since taken it to the track and it refuses to rev past 5k. Tried a stock p28 tune with the s300 no problems reving past 5k. We even plugged in a stock p28 ecu runs ok and revs past 5k with ease. I feel like it's a simple fix but we are just lost.
Thank you

Did you double check to make sure the hondata s300 module is seated properly in the ecu? If the car ran fine after the dyno tune and nothing has been changed than it might be a hardware.

Ed, we did check that even bought a new socketed ecu hoping that was the issue. Still runs the same on both ecu's.
Very frustrating. Thanks for the suggestion!

Post the calibration file you are having trouble with. It could be something as simple as launch control not working well due to a failing vehicle speed sensor.

Can you create a datalog as well with the issue present.

I can most certainly try. It will be later this afternoon. So just have the car run and try to rev past the 5k?.

Yes, normal drive the car so that it hits the limiter.

I was able to find this saved on the computer. I know we had issues that day at the track but I am not 100% sure this fully shows all the issues. I did send this to the turner and he only replied " only thing I see is your barley get above 30% throttle" Correct i cannot get to wide open throttle because the car cuts out around %K.

Try this file. I turned off the Launch control just in case that is the issue.

Ed,
That worked I was able to rev up past 5k no issues. My next question is what and why was the launch control set and do I need it for circle track racing. Again thanks again

I don’t know why the launch control was set for you. I normally ask my customers if they need it active. Launch control helps when going from a stop. It hold the rpm for you when you hold down pedal. I don’t know if you do much launching in circle racing. How do you normally get off the start line?

This issues tends to happen when your vehicle speed sensor starts to go out. Your tuner should have spent a bit more time reviewing your logs.

Reach out if you need anything else. I’m glad I could help.
