Will not run unless plugged in

Post by Natro »

My car will not run unless plugged in. Ecu clicks then car dies. Will click again and car starts. Did I get a bad kpro?

What do you mean by plugged in?

If you mean the USB, then stop immediately as it is probably grounding through the USB And this could damage it. You need to check your grounds in the engine bay.

Yes through the usb. With it usb unplugged the fuel pump relay with click then car can start, then will click again and car dies. The relays are good. It ran great the first few start ups then this happen. It’s a brand new kpro

I mean the grounds are definitely good. Even added an extra to be safe. It seems like the kpro is bad

You need to try the ECU in a known working vehicle, as it sounds like it is grounding through the USB.

I don’t have access to another vehicle to try with. Kswaps aren’t common in Vermont. I have a new rywire engine harness. I bought my swap harness from hybrid racing. Hydrid racing ground cable set. Everything tests well.

Something is not wired correctly. I would recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the harness you are using as they will know best how to troubleshoot it.
