Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
Hello, Please move if this post is incorrectly sorted. I'm trying to diagnose an issue with my FK8. The issue is seemingly a boost leak, or an issue with the wastegate not functioning properly, or something else entirely, I'm a bit of a noob and just looking for advice. Here is what I know:
I will say the things I did notice in the attached datalog is the WG and WG command do not match in the attached data log, as well as not matching actual vs. commanded BP, so I can assume boost leak or WG malfunction? fueling seems okay, but I'm not 100% on that either. Please advise. Thanks

Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
It looks more like a boost leak, but the log is too short and not very relevant (too little time in wot). Attach a pull from 3 to 6k rpm.
Has the car been serviced recently (intercooler replacement, intake, or others)? It could be a starting point.

It has for oil. the only thing touched was the catch can being emptied.
Another thing to note is, if I attempt WOT, it feels almost like fuel cut or boost cut (best described), and the engine appears to make a similar noise to traction control when it hits around 17lbs boost and essentially Brick Walls and I can't make a full pull.
I will go ahead and reflash the base tune, pull battery for half an hour, and check all hoses, Intercooler O rings and PCV and reattempt a pull

Before checking hoses, I went ahead and reflashed the tune, and pulled the battery for a few. no real change, here are a couple more log files, hopefully these are good enough for analysis.

Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
It seems that the car is making boost, but breaks the traction very quickly.
You try to put down too much torque in second and third gears. In 2nd gear you have 14% wheel slip and 27 degrees TC Retard at 4400rpm and 15psi, in 3rd gear at 3100 rpm ad 17psi you have 7% wheel slip and 11 degrees TC Retard.
All you need is to lower torque request in first gears and optimize the Traction Control.
I can help you for free if you want.

Thank you for the analysis, I will take a look asap. I'll pull the current settings when able and post them

Let me know what Information you may need and I'm happy to provide it. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
Any time the WG in the sensor list shows less than 1mm then the waste gate is trying to increase boost beyond what the turbo is capable of, and it will overspeed the turbo and can cause damage to the turbo and engine.

Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
What I find bizarre is this is the Hondata OTS Flex Fuel tune. I'm assuming there could be other factors causing this issue? I've run the OTS without issue for years. Can we assume faulty wastegate actuator maybe? Also, if I need to find a tuner for my specific need, that is something I could do as well if that is a recommendation..
Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
0mm WG is a normal behavior during the spool, and for 100-200ms after releasing the throttle (I see this in every fk8 log).
Post the calibration if you can.

Updating this long overdue post: Issue remains. I attempted to reflash with the OTS Hondata Flexfuel tune, Attempted a boost leak test with around 5-10 psi and ckecked couplers and hoses seems okay per what im seeing, not 100% on it though. posting calibration as well as latest datalog for assistance.

Don't worry, your post is in the right place. It's great that you're troubleshooting. The mismatch between the WG and WG commands can actually indicate a problem. Enhanced leakage or exhaust port malfunction are possibilities. Since you are not sure, you can ask a professional mechanic or a tuner to take a look. They can provide a more accurate diagnosis

Re: Attempting to Diag an issue with Boost
Update: This issue (suprisingly enough) was a fouled plug and coil pack. Apparently, some FK8 are afflicted with water ingress into the spark plug well, causing the pack and the plug to foul out.
