2008 Honda Civic Si interesting calibration help?

Post by Pete Magnum »

Hello, my name is Pete and i finally purchased my first Vtec honda (2008 Civic Si coupe) since wanting one in highschool! lol. (Yay!)

So, I have been reading and reading (and reading) backlogs of old posts and whatnot trying to find anywhere (or anyone *wink*) who can send me (or point me in the right direction) for the 2 calibrations I need. The first is the elusive (vitviper) "race version" Injen CAI, Skunk2 header & 76mm exhaust. But more INTERESTINGLY, The second one I needed was something to use for when I ran my exhaust silencer, Ive never heard mention there was a tune for that and cannot find one? should I just use an "off the shelf" (CAI, stock exhaust) tune for when I'm using the Silencer? Or does it not matter at all? (And I'll just run rich)

Any of your help and time are greatly appreciated.

Have a good day and hope to hear from you guys soon!

Welcome to the forum Pete,

I have not heard of the Vitviper tune you mentioned but i know he was a great tuner for this platform. Any base calibration you find will need to be adjusted as no two cars are the same.

I don't think you need a new tune to run the silencer. In my opinion a turbo car may be more affected by this. I suggest you get the car tuned without the silencer and then log the car with the silencer installed to confirm if the AFR was affected significantly. If the AFRs are not to far off the o2 sensors can get you back in line in close loop and smaller adjustments may be needed in openloop.

Hey, sorry for the delay.. I should have responded sooner. But I do appreciate the response and for your help! I actually just (finally) performed my first datalogs tonight. lol. So that tells you how distracted life has been lately but things are better and settling down now. I look forward to being a part of the community and contributing myself in the near future.

So, I basically have just been using the (hondata) tune that came with the car when I purchased it back in March. It is the non-map based "CAI, Skunk2 header, exhaust" calibration. And as far as I can tell it is performing pretty well even with my exhaust (capped) with the silencer installed. Though I do have the 3" (76mm) version (with no cat!)

Can you or anyone have a look at my datalogs and tell me how they look? I will upload them anyway. Take your time if you want, I'll understand. lol. ;)

Thank you brother, talk soon!

Post the calibration file you are running. I will review the logs when I have some down time.
