Kpro losing VSS signal

Post by Naestad »

2000 Civic Sedan (auto to manual conversion)
ECU PN 37820-PRB-A07
ECU SN 2068-703967
KPro SN 57028
KManager 4.5.5
Krpo purchased through K series Parts installed by Hondata approximately 3 years ago

Hi. Car is a 2000 Civic sedan with 2006 K24a2 and 04 rst type-s trans. Car was converted from an automatic to a manual. The issue I'm having is hard cut when driving the vehicle. It is very intermittent but frequent enough to be a serious driveability issue. After the issue happens there seems to a lack of power and "breaking up" in the high RPM range. There's no specific driving pattern that makes it happen. I've included logs. It appears as though my MIL will flash but there's no codes stored. VSS will drop to 0mph and other ecu inputs seem to disappear. This powertrain setup was swapped from my old race car and it didn't have any of these issues. I've tried a different tune file. I've replaced the VSS, Alternator, battery and MAP sensor with no improvement.

Thanks for your input,
Sean

Have you tried the ECU in a known working vehicle?

I have not. That’s not an easy accessible option for me unfortunately.

Doing this test will help you easily determine if the problem is with your vehicle or is with the ECU itself. One of our dealers should be able to help you find someone to test in their vehicle as they will know who they have tuned with a K-Pro.

Wanted to update this. After doing some more inspecting while waiting for another car to swap the ecu into I found that after about 10min of run time the PGM-FI relay was getting very hot. I replaced the PGM-FI relay and haven’t had the issue happen in about 3 test drives.
