S300 SManager 2.8.2 firmware update freeze!

Hi all
Just got my hands on a Civic Eg with a B16b running a Hondata S300 V3.

Plugged it into my laptop yesterday to take a copy of the map on the ECU and start logging to create a new calibration. As soon as I plugged in, it said s300 needs to update firmware and appeared to be frozen for more than 5 mins (the laptop was connected to the internet). I unplugged the cable from the laptop and now the car seems to be on limp mode as it has a rev cut at 3500k.

I read somewhere that USB 3.0 ports might be the issues as both ports on my laptop are USB 3.0.. I am running windows 10 on VMware Fusion on MacBook Pro 2014 and have no issues using ECU flash and other softwares for tuning my other car.

I will try using a USB 2.0 hub and see if it helps resolve the issue?

Try using a laptop that natively runs Windows and see if it works better on that.

I tried this on Windows and didn't seem to resolve the problem. Using a USB 2.0 hub also didnt seem to work. Anything else I can try?

Was this on the Macbook?

Issue resolved. Yes kept trying on my Macbook running VMware Fusion. Used a USB 2.0 hub kept playing around with the drivers, re-installed and all green ticks. Car is out of limp mode and ready to tune 😃

I'm having the same issues. Everything worked fine until I recently updated to the latest firmware. I'm using parallel to run windows with a Macbook pro 2012. How did you fix the drivers? Every time i tried to update with car on it tells me driver update error. When i update with device manager it tells me the best driver is currently used?

These are the steps I tried, something worked out of it.

My drivers showed updated and showed no issues. I was trying through a USB hub 2.0 but nothing worked.

1. I re downloaded the drivers from the Hondata site. Let it uninstall and reinstall
2. I went to device manager and in hardware changes I disabled my USB 3.0
3. Plugged in the ECU to the laptop ( I had removed the ECU from the car and connected to internet all times). Scanned for hardware changes - no luck!
4. Switched to my other USB port and firmware updated instantly and got all green ticks.
5. Plugged into car and car is out of limp mode. Tried connecting it directly to the USB port 3.0 on the laptop, did few logs, working without an issue so far.

I've uninstalled and re-install about 4 times now. No luck at all.
Tried updating usb with car and without both times being connected to internet and getting same " error updating usb driver (error) "

I never had the issue until i updated the firmware to 2.8.2.

Wish i wold of left it alone. the red light and not being able to connect unless at car with key on is annoying.
