07 Si Calibration Help
07 Si Calibration Help
Hey all! New to the forums here.
I own a 2007 FG2 Si
-Random SRI (came w/ car)
-PLM V2 Headers
-Full Race 3" Catback
I've been doing a lot of research on how to use FP and seen a few tuning guides regarding the fuel tables (adjusting percentages/lambda values at different angles). Finally got around to data logging some city/highway rides and WOT pulls. I noticed on both of my pulls that I was running really lean at 15-18:1, which is way above the ideal AFR, at around 5500-7600rpm. I may have an idea on how to adjust the fuel based on these numbers but would love some help from someone who knows better than me.
I ran the Injen SRI Base Map even though I had a full exhaust system because I was afraid the Skunk2 map would run rough. But I am planning to do some logs with the S2 map for comparison. Will attach the logs and calibration I used.
Thanks a lot!

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
Welcome to the forum Jason,
Yes, the car is running lean in columns 8 and 9. I suggest you stick to a map with the mods closest to yours. The mistake that many people make is loading different maps in hopes that they find one that works perfect to their setup. Dial in the fuel and reduce timing where knock is present. Once dialed in you can drive the car with no issues until you're ready for a custom tune.

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
Cool! I'll definitely switch over to the S2 base map since it's the closest to my setup and tinker around the fuel tables. I am planning to get e-tuned but interested in trying to learn the basics of FP tuning/creating my own base map. I'll try to keep this topic updated for those that are interested.
Thanks again, Ed!

Sounds good. Feel free to ask questions as you’re learning. If you don’t have a tuner I also provide ETunes.

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
Did some work on the fuel tables from the previous datalogs. Definitely getting better results up to 7500rpm (couldn't get to redline on the datalog I used) but far from ideal. I've finally put in a decent WOT run using the S2 base map in the recent log. You can see how high my AFR's go up as the load increases, it's pretty crazy. I made some adjustments in the fuel tables based on the lambda values and suggested percent increases for this pull, so I've yet to do a pull with this calibration. I just wanna see how you would work on this graph and if my adjusted numbers would be any close to yours. Haven't touched ignition timing/knock yet.
Regarding the high AFR's, please do let me know if there is something severely wrong. I am pretty concerned as to why that is but have brushed it off since I don't really beat on my engine too much. Need to know if the motor needs saving from catastrophe :')

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
I will review when I have time. When it comes to the numbers in the fuel table being compared to mine, that will vary as it dependes how aggressive you are with the fuel. The value would differ if you want 12.5 or 13 at WOT.
If the afr is increasing I would add more fuel in that region.
Timing i would reduce that as well and not leave it for later.
I assume this is a speed density calibration so the MAF should have no affect on the calibration.

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
Alright, I'll stick with adding fuel until the target is reached. And yes, these are speed/density-based calibrations.
I've been pretty conservative with the adjustments but the goal is a 12.7 wot afr.
Where I can start with timing and knock control? i.e. percentage changes in the ign tables and what tables to adjust in the Knock Control section.

Look at area where knock is increasing and reduce the area by 2 degrees until Knock is removed.Dane_Si wrote: Wed May 03, 2023 1:12 pm Alright, I'll stick with adding fuel until the target is reached. And yes, these are speed/density-based calibrations.

Re: 07 Si Calibration Help
Got my afr's down to "better" values. Still working on trying to get that afr line as straight as possible. Also did some timing adjustments but seems like I'll need to reduce even more.

Sounds good. Sounds like you are making good progress.Dane_Si wrote: Wed May 03, 2023 4:44 pm Got my afr's down to "better" values. Still working on trying to get that afr line as straight as possible. Also did some timing adjustments but seems like I'll need to reduce even more.
