Ignition gear compensation

Post by Knox »

Hello, I tuned a JDM FD2 type r with nitrous couple years ago and I'm using "ignition gear compensation" and retard the timing at 3-4-5th gears. Yesterday we go to dyno because of exhaust system, intake system change and I notice the "ignition gear compensation" did not work and engine knocks. First tune made on 3.9.3 and it works, yesterday I make the tuning with 4.0.3 and "ignition gear compensation" did not work, I checked there is newer firmware and version of FlashPro manager and download 4.0.5 and I checked again "ignition gear compensation" did not work again. Can you please check? I retard timing on main ignition map but it retards on all gears, I only want to retard on 3-4-5th gears.

Hello, thank you for support. I attached calibration and datalog. On 3000 rpm you will see the ignition map is between 40 and 37, so the ignition is 38 degrees. But it should be -6 when I at gear 3-4-5.

This does not mean that it will go from 27 dgrees to -6. It means that if conditions are met it will retard up do 6 degrees from the table value.

There are no nitrous controls to properly tune nitrous using the FlashPro.

So it retards if engine knocks ?
Can you please inform me about the conditions? May be I can find a way to use it.
Or can you make it retard depending only to gear on ignition gear compensation ? I mean when you make new version of flashpro manager.

You need some kind of external controller that can reduce timing and add the needed fuel when using nitrous.
