Radiator Fan Always Running with ignition open

Post by papo »

Is there a way I can test the KProV4 to rule out if the ECU is forcing fans on?

I have a k20A2 in an EG chassis. Radiator Fan is connected to factory car harness as it would be from factory. Using Hybrid Racing conversion harness. There is no temp switch connected.

KPro Protection is set for fan to turn on based on the Coolant temp of 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Just trying to find out if the KPro is the culprit.

There is not flexfuel sensor setup on the car.

You really need to install a thermo-switch that will operate the fans without the ECU controlling it. The ECU control is just for altering the temp so that it can come on slightly sooner if you want. You should not rely solely on the ECU to control the fan.

You need to check how the fan is actually wired as it sounds like something is not wired correctly if the fan is always on.

Agreed. I do not want to rely on the KPro to control fans. I have ordered a fan temp switch and will be installing.

That being said, everything is wired correctly. Is there a way to know if the ECU is what is sending signal for the fan to turn on?

Have you tried the ECU on a known working vehicle with their calibration loaded?
