You're welcome, glad you're happy. That's cool your friend noticed a difference. The car will be an entirely different car with a proper tune and the HR and race header installed. Honestly you don't even recognize it as the same car from a performance standpoint. The intake and race header are the biggest change to the tune and allow for more performance. Watch, don't tell your friend you did those mods and a retune, then take her for a drive. She'll probably freak out.

That datalog looked great. Go ahead and make another when you can and we will see how it looks. If it looks just as good, we can probably call it good to go for now while you await the new parts.

Honestly, you will be amazed at how different the car will be. First gear will be almost useless if you get on it from a dig or a roll. Unless you have some really good tires of course.

Was this datalog made with the same tank of gas as the last datalog, or did you fill up before this one?

Nope not at all. We haven't seen any knock, then all the sudden we had some in this most recent datalog. So I was interested to find out what changed, if anything. To know you filled up with new gas is what I was thinking. Go ahead and make another datalog when you can and we'll see how it looks.

Knock is basically pre-ignition or uneven fuel burn within the cylinder. Generally too much timing causes knock, but in your case we haven't had any knock the entire time, then all the sudden we get it after new gas is in the tank. It's entirely possible to get lower quality gas from time to time, that's why Honda builds the knock control system into the ECU to pull timing if needed in this case.

Here is a really good video from NGK to explain it better than I can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZysyokEU60

It's not enough knock to cause an issue, we just want to make sure we're covering all our bases and making sure it's knock a trending thing. You want to remove knock that happens consistently. My curiosity was peaked simple because you haven't had any knock this whole time, then is comes out of nowhere. We'll see how it looks in the next one, then once you put new gas in again we'll double check it all again. Definitely don't panic right now though, it's nothing to panic about. It's all part of the process.

Yeah it looks good, the knock is mostly gone again. Go ahead and make another datalog when you go somewhere and I'll look for some trends to adjust based on that data. It's looking solid, just a couple areas I want to tighten up/nitpick.

Yeah most of the knock in the new one was from cruising in 6th gear on the highway it looked like. So do some more of that and we'll see how it looks. All the knock was in one small area, so that's a good thing.
