Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Hey EFICU,
I have attached the datalog, got one or two extra WOT pulls. Did not go out to 7500 except for one.
I also notice my knock control values on the app are getting as high as 98, I only saw my KR go to like .5. Wanted to confirm that knock control value was okay, it currently says 44 when I stopped the car. knock count I saw 1.
Thank you,
Cody

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Man, so close on that one. Haha. I made some adjustments for the one knock, and one small adjustment to the WOT fuel. Other than that it's dialed. Take this one for a rip when you can, we should be there. Ten minutes or so is fine again.
The knock control will go down once the knock stops. It works in unison with the knock counter, noise being heard by the knock sensor, and then the tables. And it's over time, it's all a strategy by the ECU to determine the level of octane in the fuel basically.

Awesome, and just confirming due to being very new to this, my car has been running totally fine to be driven for all the logs of my car you've seen correct? Just a big worrier and don't want to have done damage to my car hahahah! I really appreciate your help, I definitely could not have done this myself!
Thank you,
Cody

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
I can tell you're a worrier, haha. Yeah it all looks good. Some knock isn't a problem at all, it's when you have knock in an area or multiple areas all the time, which over years of driving isn't great. The knock is essentially gone now, you might get a random one here and there, but that's normal and fine. But the problem comes from the knock count rising fast on a pull or part throttle, talking like 30-40-50+ knock, that type of knock isn't good. A random knock doesn't hurt anything though. That and these 9th gens with the stock intake manifold have a couple areas that are prone to knock so I'm creeping up on it. I could just pull 10* and be done, but I like to creep up on it to give you the best performance and find the limit.
Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Word, much appreciated. Its my DD which I know I have mentioned but thats what makes me even worse about worrying haha! Awesome, I really appreciate it, everything feels pretty solid can't wait to see when its all done!!
Also just assuming another 10 min datalog, any specifics on the pull or what I need to make sure is on the log for you.

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Sounds good. Yeah I don't run anything on the ragged edge so you'll be good for a DD.
Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Going to remap right now, don't know how much longer my friend will be hanging out, this tune is definitley safe to get to work and back over the next week till he can come back out, or should I flash back to stock tonight when he leaves till we can finish this up? I'll be back with a 10 min data log for you!
Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
This tune is much safer than the stock calibration.
Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
That is very nice to know. I have got two datalogs for you. Hope to hear good things! Cheers!!

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
It looks great Cody! It is knock free, part throttle fuel looks great. There is no knock retard happening either which is great. I made some small WOT fuel adjustments, but it's plenty good to drive on, I'm splitting hairs at this point. Keep an eye out for any knock for the next few days on the app like you have been. If you see a random one here and there don't sweat it. If you see it creep up to quite a few then make a datalog and post it when you can and we'll touch it up. Either way don't stress, a few knock is no big deal, we can check datalogs when your friend has time if need be. Load this next one up and you can let your friend roam free. Haha.
I ran the last 2 pulls through the Virtual Dyno and it shows you're roughly in the mid 190's for whp which is not too bad for exhaust only and a remote tune. Hopefully it's fun to drive.

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Hey sorry for the super delayed response,
Just confirming, I am on my way out to my car to load rev.5, this tune should have me safe enough to drive a decent amount correct? Or is this more of its good enough but will need further development.
Thank you,
Cody

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Man you do worry a lot, haha. It's good to drive anywhere for as long as you want. It's knock free, fuel trims look great, and the WOT fuel is really good. All thing things you look for and aim for. I'm just saying that if you see a knock or something random don't freak out, it happens from time to time. But if you see a bunch of knock to again not worry, just make a datalog and post it when you can.
Can I ask where all your anxiety comes from about knock, and tuning in general? If you're worried about blowing up the engine, you'd have to find someone very irresponsible with timing and/or fuel control to blow up an NA k series engine. Hopefully you can get some peace of mind and enjoy the car at some point. Everything looks great in the tune, enjoy the car, don't worry so much.

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Yes it eases my mind greatly. My anxiety stems from having diagnosed anxiety hahha, but when it comes to my car I am just in love with my cars, don't like when ANYTHING is off hahha. Seriously, I cannot thank you enough. I will keep my eye on the app and parameters, in the meantime EFICU, you are truly an amazing person. I greatly, greatly appreciate everything! I will just keep you updated with the car for awhile. Hopefully with all good news!!
I have attached a datalog of driving on rev.5 car seems smooth no hiccups, no knock, and I don't think there was any KR. I don't know what is the goal number for knock control but that stayed at 43, no pull though just drove it my journey to work and back to see if anything caused weird things on the drive I will have to take every single morning haha!
Thank you a million,
Cody

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Let me remove my foot from my mouth on the anxiety, haha. I'm sorry, that makes sense on the anxiety, you literally have it so please forgive me. I understand completely and people like you are why I like helping out on here. I don't want to see you guys having anxiety, diagnosed or not, about your car. This stuff should be fun and you should be out enjoying your car. Guys like you are the most fun to help, to see you go from being worried about your car to out enjoying it with less worry is fun for me. I'm happy to help you guys out, you're welcome.
The new datalog looks great. There isn't a third gear pull in there, but that's no big deal. The fuel trims look great and ZERO knock again, so you're looking good. There really is no goal for the k. control, for the 9th gens, it can get very low. As long as you're not getting any knock it's no big deal where it lands. But you're not getting any knock retard at all, so that's great even if it stays at 43. The k control value is just a reference of how much noise the knock sensor is hearing essentially. If you were to get some low quality fuel let's say, most likely that k control value will rise and then pull timing to try to protect from knock. Sort of like what you were experiencing before we started working together.
So yeah, it looks great man. You can drive it anywhere anytime with that tune, so try to enjoy it and hopefully over time you will gain some confidence in it. My email is under the "calibrations" tab of your files where your information is if you need to get a hold of me off the forum about something.

Re: Tuning help 2014 civic Si
Don’t sweat it at all. Not a sensitive topic for me I know it can be annoying for someone to deal with haha. I really appreciate you help and I will definitely reach out.
