Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
I think the main thing was when you were doing the throttle blip from fifth to fourth, you were kicking vtec on and riding the line between the open loop and closed loop ECU operation. Open loop is what the ECU transitions to when you go to WOT, closed loop is your part throttle operation. So I shifted how low in the table it kicks into open loop operation so it wouldn't be in closed loop, since then it hasn't done it. It's one of those gray areas and driving style things we have to tweak sometimes. I don't get a lot of guys doing the throttle blip much.
Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Ah okay got it got it, yeah I've been trying to get used to the throttle response for the blip and rev matching on this car, I was used to it on my 10th gen but still adjusting to getting it right on this car. I like to rev match instead of having the engine catch up to the transmission speed when downshifting. Plus it's super satisfying when you get a nice clean rev match, hahaha

Attached is the Revision 1.6 Datalog!
This one ran a little longer, apologies. I started the log on my way home from school and there was no good open stretches for the 3rd gear WOT pull, so you'll see it towards the end. As for the jolting throttle, I wasn't able to test that either on this revision since there were too many cars on the road. The knock looked really good though! Didn't see any sudden surges when rev matching, just a few here and there during regular driving.

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
No problem. Yeah we had a couple blip knock come back. I'll just have to continue working on the ignition in that area. One was a genuine knock, the other two were from a blip but they happened in the same area as the real knock. So removing timing for one should address all of them. Take this one for a spin when you can.

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
I was able to drive this one but I couldn't datalog as I was in a rush for class. I did notice the knock went up to 27 on my way to school. I did do some pulls but the A/C was still on cause it's hot in the area right now. Might that possibly be the reason or source of the knock?
I'll get my datalog in on my way home and send that to you as soon as I can. Apologies for the delay!

Oh my... I didn't press send.
Shame on me, sorry about that. Here's the datalog I said I was going to send, hahaha

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Yeah it's interesting, did you ever datalog on the original file you were driving on to see if you had any knock? I'm curious to see how much knock you had with so much more timing in that calibration. I made a few adjustments for this one, we'll see how it looks.

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
With the original file do you mean the AEM V2 CAI basemap? No I didn't. We jumped straight into the calibrations you sent me.
On another subject, I discovered what is making the throttle jolty in between high RPM shifts. It's the FTS system kicking in. My foot would rest ever so slightly between shifts on the clutch for a little too long, and in doing that the FTS would see the clutch backing away from the sensor switch that sits at the stopper of the clutch when released. I tested this by being over 6K RPM's and tapped the clutch ever so slightly. When doing this it kicks into the throttle positioning for FTS shifting. I just need to adjust driver mod to completely get off the clutch and time it right so the FTS doesn't engage, or adjust the clutch positioning slightly. Glad I figured this out, cause since then keeping it in mind, the shifts have been much more direct and smooth!
I will flash this tune after class and see how it goes on the datalog. Did you want me to datalog on the basemap I was running before?

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
That’s interesting on the shifts. That’s good to hear they feel solid now.
Yeah I would be interested in seeing how that original AEM file handles the blips kicking on vtec and having a lot more timing. With gas prices as high as they are, R&D isn’t cheap so I don’t want you out testing over and over. Haha. I’d like to get it knock free one way or the other.

Here is the datalog for Revision 1.8!
After I downloaded this datalog I flashed the AEM V2 CAI basemap. I will do datalogging for that tune and send you that file later as well.

Here is the datalog for the AEM basemap. Sorry about the extended idle at the end of the datalog, I forgot it was still recording.

Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Yeah it looks like pretty much the same issue there. Go ahead and back to our most recent calibration and run that. I'll look over this most recent datalog some more and try to figure out something to try to help the issue.
Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Noted! So just keep running Rev 1.8 for the meantime? It has a little knock but seems pretty solid overall.
Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
Yeah that works. The main portion of knock is from the throttle blip on downshifts. Without those we wouldn't have any knock, or at least right now only a couple. I'm not a fan of telling people to change the way the drive, so I'll have to find someway to hopefully stop it. I may not be able to, but we'll see.
Re: Basemap Suggestions or File Needed
No worries! I don't have to throttle blip all the time, at least I'm aware that any knock really comes from there and isn't exactly true knock, but I can just be more mindful of it when driving.
