Help with getting the right calibration

Post by Tigerfrati »

Just got my Hondata and looking to install a base map tune. I have a 2008 Honda Civic si coupe and I am currently running a drop in K&N air filter with a cat back exhaust. I have a stage 2 clutch with an ultra light flywheel as well. Besides that the car is stock. Does the drop in filter count as an intake or should I just run the stock base map? What would be my best option till I can get a hybrid racing cold air intake? I wanna disable the rev hang and just have my car running healthy. Wanna add more parts before putting it on the dyno or getting an e-tune. Any help or tips is super appreciated! I am new to this site and haven’t dug deep into the forms. If there is a form for this please lead me in the right direction! Thanks!

Welcome to the Hondata platform. If you want to run a Hondata basemap, use the "Stock Tuned" option to get you started. The filter won't count as an intake, so you would want to run the stock tuned file to get the ball rolling. The exhaust makes a small different on the car when you have the stock cat installed, so if you you want to run the Hondata basemaps that would be the best start. And if you need help turning off rev hang or anything else, let us know.

If you want some help tuning it, I can start you on my basemap for a stock setup and we can dial the tune in probably 3-4 revisions. Then you can have fun with it until you get the HR intake. Whichever route you want to go, just let me know if I can help you with it at all.

So I was thinking about getting the hybrid racing cold air intake and installing that before messing with the tune. Would you be able to help me with that? I just wanna make sure I’ll be able to tune the car before getting the cold air intake.. I know you have to tune the hybrid racing intake before driving around with it..

Update* I got the hybrid racing cold air intake and hopefully will be installing it this weekend. Definitely need help with a tune for it before I drive it! I got a 3inch cat back exhaust with the hybrid racing intake when installed. I also have a stage 1.5 clutch and a ultra lightweight flywheel if that does anything! Been trying to research all this but people who tune the hybrid racing intake have headers on the car and I’m still running stock headers.. if you could help me get a tune for the car so the car can be running better and not giving me a lot of problems I would 100% appreciate it !!!

Yeah if you want to tune it for the HR intake it's very simple. Are you planning to add a header in the near future, or is it going to be the HR intake and exhaust for a long period of time? There is a long woute and a short route to tuning these, so depending on your future plans we can discuss the best option.

I’m hoping to get a header soon with a full race exhaust but thinking maybe towards the middle of summer! Probably will rock just the intake and exhaust for a little bit till I get more cash!

Okay sounds good. Since you may pull the trigger on a header at any time, we can tune it the quicker route so you can have fun with the HR intake only setup, then spend the proper time on it when you get the header. We can probably have it dialed within a few revisions and you can have fun with it while you wait for the header.

Let me know what you think. And let me know when you plan to install the intake so I can get the basemap put together for you.

Yeah I’m definitely looking to just have with with the intake till I can make that purchase! The package should be here Friday so I was looking to either install it Friday or possibly Saturday if I don’t have time after work!

Okay sounds good, just keep me in the loop. The intake is kind of tough to install, so make sure you schedule yourself enough time. Once you get the package in, and decide which day you're going to install it, just let me know. I'm subscribed to this thread so it will send me a notification.
