p72 ecu question

Post by 96accordtypeS »

Hey, I just bought an ecu off of ebay. In the ad, it said 5 speed obd1 p72 ecu USDM. This is exactly what i want because I am going to chip with hondata. The only thing is, I see the code on the side of the ecu now, it is:
37820-P72-902 G5
I have a 5 speed car, and don't the last 3 digits of that code say that it is an automatic ECU? if so will it still work ok with my engine and tranny? it's a JDM H22A Type S.
thanks

How many plugs does it have, 3 or 4?

Hope for your sake you are not planning on using this for S300. That code is for a JDM or EDM ECU, and the case is too small for S300. If it is really a P72, I'm pretty sure it can be converted from auto to manual, but part of the problem is that if it has traction control, I have not yet found a way to disable the traction control error.

To Jaker.
Do you have the bin from your TCS ECU ?
Could you send me that bin?
Thanks.

i hate having doubts about stuff i get on ebay.... it is a large rectangular shaped ecu, is that not usdm, and shouldn't the s300 fit in that?

That ecu is completely useless unfortunately. I would return it and get your money back. That is an Automatic ecu and is internally more like na OBD2 ecu.

%@$#@ ok, thanks guys. it pisses me off cause im still kinda new to this stuff, im learning, but in the ebay ad, it said it was a 1995 5 SPEED!!, gsr P72 OBD1 ECU. Also says "perfect for that obd1 swap" AHHHHHHH... well I'll take the ECU to my Hondata dealer who will eventually tune for me, and let him look at it before i make another move... do any of you guys have a good p72 you wanna sell to me? thanks

No need to take it to anyone else...I work at HOndata and that ecu is not usable. Contact the seller and get your money back.
