2002 civic LX D17A1 engine swap with 2003 D17A2
My son and I performed an engine upgrade D17A1 (non-VTEC) to a D17A2 (VTEC). we also changed the PCM/ECU to the VTEC item. We were informed by engine supplier (Japan-Direct.com) that the wiring was the same for these model cars and all that was needed was to change the PCM when we changed the engine. Well, Everything went fine except that we now have a Green key flashing on the dash panel (son's Civic LX Does Not have keyless entry), CEL, and when we connect a OBDII reader to the car we get a "Link Error"... Oh yeah, and of course the engine "Will Not Start". This engine (D17A2) is Car-Fax certified @ less than 100 miles (One Hundred). Help? Please respond. What do we need to do? Son is now driving my car... I do not want to change that engine, respond quickly!!! Son is twenty-three and is a former MX professional racer, he only knows one throttle position and that is, WFO.
