s200 with boost option question

Post by WolfGod »

im lookin at buying a car with this ecu but the guy say's that just recently the light on the box stays on 24/7 even with the keys off

my question is, is this some kind of problem or is it supposed to do this, i have to drive 1000 miles back home after picking this car up and want to be sure that it'll be good for the trip, thanks

The light staying on is not normal - it could be that the ECU is getting power all the time (which usually happens via a sensor). As long as the light is not flashing then the worst that can happen is that the battery will discharge a quicker than normal.

Sounds liek the wiring in the car has been modified and the ecu is getting power all the time.

What sort of system do you have? Are you sure it has boost capability? Call us with the serial number if in doubt.

i've been driveing it since monday boosting 10 psi with no problem so i'd assume it does, but if cant fix it by tomorrow i'll call in with the number to double check.. i downloaded the user guide and it said the slow blinking light is normaly a rom problem so i dont really know what i could do to fix it..

ok i went into town today and it drove fine, no boost problems, no cel, but the blue box was blinking slowly still... in town i bought a serial cable to try and connect and it connected but say's it doesnt have data logging enabled so how do i get the code to enable it? on the way home from town the cel came on again and i was put into limp mode again.. what could cause this random limp mode problem?

It sounds more like either a problem with the interface cable or the socketing of the ecu. Who socketed the ECU? Check continuity of the interface cable. New cables can be purchased from the dealers for $15.

cool i'll check that.. i dunno who socketed it or anything, i just bought the car last week with everything in, it ran perfect untill thursday ish.. now the blue box is flashing slowly all the time, earlier the cel light was blinking every 5 seconds or so, then after going in the mall it just stayed on constantly.. i can unhook the battery and it'll take the cel off and i can get my boost back but the blue box still blinks.. i'll go out and check that stuff now and see if anything looks out of place

looks like it was the cable, the brown wire was pulled out of the plug going to the blue box but not enough to notice without takeing it out, thanks for the help
