VSS Problem After Update

Post by Tehdango »

I was using a new wire from B11 on my PRB ecu to output a speed signal to my dash and it was working. After the update to 4.4.9 and the firmware update it is no longer working. I have checked and re-checked all of my connections and they are in fact solid and unchanged from when it was working. Is it possible to revert and check that it works with the previous kpro version and ecu firmware?

To clarify some I have a CSS and this is a workaround to get a usable signal to my cluster according to this video.

I am also able to see the speed in Kpro working just not my cluster.

Really? Can nobody from hondata shed some light as to why I was able to use B11 to get a usable signal to my speedometer on 4.4.6 but not after updating?

A good start would be to provide the calibration and a datalog, along with pertinent details of the ECU setup and wiring.

My Kpro info is attached.

When it worked:
Kmanager version 4.4.6
Firmware version 16
Wired directly from my ecu B11 to the vehicles old ecu harness VSS wire.
This provided a usable signal to my speedometer.

When it no longer worked:
Plugged my laptop up to ecu and opened Kmanager.
Was prompted to install updated version of Kmanager 4.4.9
I installed it.
I started Kmanager again and it told me the firmware must be updated as well. No option to say no, just "OK" button.
Started the vehicle and drove around.
No working speedometer.

Nothing was done in between. The vehicle is parked in my garage. I checked all the wiring 20x. Nothing is different because nothing changed. Once I got it working I made permanent connections with solder and shrink wrap. Verified it worked after making permanent connections too. I was so excited it worked I checked it several times after putting everything back together.

When I check B11 I see voltage move between 2.00 and 3.30 almost in an up and down pattern. I do not know what it was prior to firmware 17 and 18 but I know for a fact it was a usable signal with firmware 16.

I hooked up the c101 wire from the CSS to verify the speedometer still works and it pegs it out to max because its a CSS, which is expected but also means the speedometer is actually still functional. I have the front end up on jack stands and put in it gear and let it spin the wheels. Kmanager shows my changes in MPH when I accelerate so I know the speed sensor is sending it to the ECU.

That datalog is wrong. Thats during troubleshooting. here is one showing it is seeing a VSS signal.

The B11 output is a hardware output from the ECU. KPro firmware does not affect it.

I would start by finding out why the battery voltage is fluctuating so much. If there is a ground difference between the ECU and dash the VSS signal is not going to work.

Also the TPS is stuck at 50% but I do not think it is related to this problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by a ground difference with the ecu and the dash.
