08 Civic Si completely stock

Post by Jq08fg2 »

I have a completely stock (drop in K&N filter) and looking to optimize my daily driving. I don’t plan on doing any mods anytime soon. ANY help would be appreciated as I’m using a stock base map and feel like I’m affecting the engine every time I go out to drive.

I can help you with it if you'd like. If you don't plan on doing any mods soon, we can tune it the long way to get the best product by tuning each cam angle individually and then blending everything out. Usually takes maybe 8-12 revisions with a setup like yours. Let me know.

Heck yeah man, I’ve looked through this forum and you seem to be the tuner king! The long way is good with me, do you charge for this ?

I just like helping you guys out. Especially the guys who really need it to get from an unsafe scenario. As for payment, right now I just leave it up to you guys. If you're happy at the end and want to throw me a few bucks that's great, if not, that's fine too. I appreciate anything though if you're happy at the end.

Sounds good. So we need the datalogs to be in the 20-30 minute range with as much stop and go driving as possible. We want to avoid steady speed for long periods of time basically. On the drive, we need one wide open throttle (WOT) pull from from 2500-8600 to work on the WOT fueling. For this first datalog, only make one WOT pull so we can get some data before you have too much fun with it. This will be the 0* cam to start anyways, so it won't be the most powerful, it just gives us a nice place to start. As we work up in cam angle it will get stronger. You'll see as we go.

So take this one for a drive when you can, then we'll see how it looks.

It looks really good for a start. I cleaned up some of the fueling and adjusted for some knock. The datalogs looks good, but be sure to get a clean third gear pull from 2500-8600 in third gear. You made a couple multi gear pulls, but not a clean third gear pull from 2500-8600. Just letting you know, try to get one of those in so we can get clean WOT fuel data.

Here is the next one. We will now move to the 15* cam angle with vtec still at 4500. Same datalog and driving style for this one.

Okay two passes again, hard for me to get a good pull on my day to day driving so made a special trip haha. If it's easier for you to look at one pull I can do that . Thanks again man. Already feeling better than a stock tune.

Gotcha, yeah without the WOT pass we're unable to move forward with the tune because that is the most important thing we need now. The MAF scaling looks good, so the WOT fuel is our main focus now. You can put it all in one datalog, or make two, I can work with either one.

That one looked good. I made some adjustments, and now we will move onto the 30* cam angle with vtec now at 5500. Take this one for a drive when you can and we will see how it looks.

Two more runs here. Hard to get WOT in 3rd all the way through in my city, but I think I got one here.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the newest calibration got uploaded before the datalog. The cam angle isn't riding on the 30* rotation and vtec is still hitting at 4500. Try to reupload the newest revision and take it for a spin when you can.

I finally had the time/money to get the parts I've been looking at and was working close to home. I got the new O2 sensor in and built the 3" exhaust I've been wanting with V-bands and a much smoother path. I thought I had bought a 3" in/out muffler, but it was 2.5". The rest of the exhaust was 2-3/4". I only started the motor for this datalog with the resonator. I am rebuilding my muffler into a 3" in and 3" out. Almost finished and I will get a full run in.

You mind opening a new thread? I don’t want data logs to get crossed here since EFICU is helping me as well.
