Innovate MTX-L Questions

Post by unregistereduser »

Hi,

A bit new to all this so bear with me. I'm theorizing how I'm going to set this up when my P28/S300 comes in.

I want to use the 0V-5.0V output for tuning while also maintaining reliable closed loop operation. The plan is to wire power and ground to A25 & A26 and the signal wire to D10 ELD. How reliable is it to simulate 0V-1.0V narrowband signal for closed loop operation through the LM Programmer software provided with the MTX-L and then switching back to 0V-5V during active tuning and datalogging sessions?

It seems like with this setup the only way to run in closed loop while still monitoring the wideband in open loop is to run two o2 sensors in tandem. Did I choose the wrong wideband setup?

Any input is much appreciated.

Are the gauge readouts based on 0V-5.0V even when 0V-1.0V is being simulated to the ECU?

You do not need to simulate a narrow band as you can use a wideband and it can be setup to run closed loop from the wideband signal. The best wideband we have seen for doing this are the PLX Devices widebands.

Thanks. I thought I had read somewhere that people were having trouble running the wideband in closed loop. Hopefully the MTX-L works well.

If that's the case then is it really worth it to bother with D10 rather than using D14 and setting the wideband to run 0-3.85V with the controller software? Are there any adverse effects to disabling the ELD?

Disabling the ELD will just mean the alternator stays in the high voltage output mode, so no, there won't be any negative impacts that you'll be able to notice.

The wideband will work in closed loop, you may just need to mess around with the response settings.

By response settings are you talking about the "rate of change" in Smanager > Closed Loop? So the general consensus is that the wideband has a slower response than a narrowband in closed loop? Is this because the outdated computer has to process a wider range of values?

Yes, the rate of change. I'm not sure why the rate of change needs to be different, but I found that it usually does.

The default rate of change settings are way to slow. This is what I use, works great with widebands.

Got the H23a running pretty damn well on a tweaked H22 basemap that's in the hondata database. I can confirm the closed loop is shoddy at default settings

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try these next time I've got the laptop plugged in.

Just following up - these settings work great on my setup for running closed loop with a PLX wideband. Thanks for sharing, TTR.
