VSS HELP…

Post by KRC_BEE »

Hello all,

I have a k24a2 swapped EG with PRB ecu and ep3 Si trans.

My problem is that I get MPH to my cluster but not to my KPRO. Have a brand new VSS, ktuned engine harness and ktuned conversion harness and All the settings are correct.

Need advice on what else to change or try to get the P0500 code from popping up and get it to read in my parameters.

TIA.

What is the ECU part number that is on the white plug inside the ECU?

My bad. It’s a pnd ecu. And after further inspection the VSS has not been moved over to the kpro board. (I just recently bought the car and trying to get it running correctly).

I’ll also need help on setting up the alternate speed input.

Yes. I’m switching it now. So those starting values should work? What about when using different tire sizes and slicks? Does the values have to always be changed?

You may have to alter the settings for the readings to match and be accurate.

Geeesh shipping is 2x the cost of the product. Any local dealers in SoCal you know carry them?

You would have to contact the individual dealers.

im upping my post in hopes to have someone school me on "ALTERNATE SPEED INPUT" and how the "calibration" and "smoothing" work so i can get my mph and gears dialed in...

if not would me getting a prb ecu eliminate having to use the "ALTERNATE SPEED INPUT"? Because at this point i dont want to have to keep changing settings for tire size and all that BS...

retuning my car this friday and would rather not have to deal with it if its as simple as changing my ecu and puting the VSS wire back to A18.

thank you in advance...

You can use a PRB if you want and it will be able to see the same signal that the cluster is getting, but if it is not reading the correct speed you will have to use gear compensations and or the speedometer correction %. This will not alter the speed displayed on the cluster.

Ok. So I might as well stick with the pnd and dial it in.

Can you school me a little bit on how the “calibration/pulses per mph and smoothing” work so I have a better understanding when adjusting the numbers? I cant find any detailed post or articles covering that subject.

Thank you in advance.

You will have to make adjustments and see how they affect the readings and then make additional adjustments either the same way or the opposite way depending on how close you are coming or if you are going in the right direction.
