new to this flashpro world
new to this flashpro world
I recently picked up a 06 si for my daily. after doing some research i pulled the trigger and picked up the flashpro. i flashed the "completely stock, tuned" map and im happy that the rev hang is virtually gone now, but something doesnt seem right in second gear when vtec crosses over. this is the first time ive dipped my feet into the "tuning world". im hoping someone knowledgeable can take a look at my recent datalog and see if all seems well or not. thanks

Re: new to this flashpro world
Overall it doesn't look too bad. The knock count is fairly low all things considered, and happening in common areas which should be easy to clean up. Fuel trims aren't too bad, but could be a little better with some AFR command strategies.
As far as your second gear vtec concern, it could be from a number of things. One being the cam commanded angle jumps quite a bit in the calibration you're driving on which causes it to chase itself. Could also be engaging at too low of an RPM for your car. I am guessing your car is stock since you went with the stock tuned basemap? Also guessing you are on 91 octane based on the knock? The calibration also has too much cam angle IMO if you are stock, which could also contribute to the poor vtec feel you have.
Let me know the answer to some of my questions and we can determine a path to go if you want my help.

Re: new to this flashpro world
It currently is bone stock. Itll be bone stock until the spring rolls around, then there will be the usual bolt on's happening. It is running 91 as it's the best we get around this area. I was thinking VTEC is engaging way to low in the rpm's as well.
I would love your help and guidance with this stuff. After reading through a bunch of threads on here you seem like the guy I can learn a few things from

Re: new to this flashpro world
Makes sense, the knock is happening with about 2* more ignition than I start guys on so my guess at 91 was good. Yeah vtec is smoother when the cam angle map on the transition is the same or very close. The file you're on has the cam angle jumping 20* more instantly at vtec which can cause things to feel weird or sound weird. Most guys like the grunt of the vtec sound on the crossover, which is usually from the extreme cam angle jump. When it's a smoother transition the jump in power is less aggressive, much smoother, and sounds cleaner. Which is really what you want, the grunt isn't always best for drivability and power honestly.
I just like trying to help you guys get going and enjoy the car, and help those who have legitimate issue or concerns about their car.
Since you plan to keep it stock for a while, we can start you on my basefile and tune each cam angle one at a time, then blend everything out to make a complete cam angle map and everything for your car. You would be looking at 10-12 revisions, meaning you would be making as many datalog of 20-30 minutes. If you have the time to do that, it provides us the most data to build your tune. If you're a little more strapped for time, we can do it the quick way using a file I have that is designed for your setup, probably looking at 4-6 revisions going that direction. So it's up to you, if you want some help with it we can go either way with it, all depends on your time to make datalogs. Once you do your bolt on in the spring, it all needs to be done again, so keep that in mind too. It's quick and easy for me either way, the burden of time falls on you and the 20-30 minute datalogs is all.
If you have any questions let me know.

Re: new to this flashpro world
Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the crossover lol. My old h22 made me smile everytime I heard it, but it was a much simpler engine. Smoother and cleaner is exactly what I'm looking for.
My drive to and from work each day is about 20 minutes with a bunch of stop and go as well as a good run on the highway for a couple minutes so I'm more than happy to datalog every trip.

Re: new to this flashpro world
Okay sounds good, here is the first file for you to get started. Yeah shoot for the 20-30 minutes with as much stop and go as you can, and the wide open throttle (WOT) pull in third gear from 2500-8600. Then post the datalog and we will get to work on it.
If you have any questions along the way let me know.

Re: new to this flashpro world
I did my best to do the 3rd gear run all the way up to limiter, but i was doing over 130km/h in a 100 and was quickly catching up to traffic lol. seemed a little rich when i started it but i could be completely wrong. i havent had a chance to take a look at the log yet.

Re: new to this flashpro world
Haha, yeah you always gotta watch out for traffic when doing these. You might even try to find some back roads so you can make the pulls away from populated areas.
Unfortunately the datalog you posted does not have our first calibration in it. This datalog was made with another calibration in the ECU. Our calibration has you on the 0 cam for the entire drive, but in the datalog it's moving around like you still have your old calibration in the ECU still. Double check, and upload the calibration I posted above and make a new datalog when you can.

Re: new to this flashpro world
strange lol i deleted the previous one and uploaded the one i downloaded this morning from this thread. i was just looking over the map you sent and it has a list of modifications that i dont have. does that matter? ill run out here in a bit and give it another shot, boss
Re: new to this flashpro world
Yeah mine will have a lot of things different. But the one I sent you has the cam angle set to 0* throughout the entire map, the datalog you posted has it going from 0* to 45* just like the old calibration you were running did.
Re: new to this flashpro world
i have no idea what happened there, but im pretty sure we are good this time. im having an issue adding the datalog here though. apparently my drive was too long. it is on the right calibration this time though lol there was 0 cam angle
Re: new to this flashpro world
In the "calibration" tab of the file I sent you is my email address, go ahead and email it to me and reference your screen name on here so I know which car is yours.
