8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
I could not find a tune for a skunk2 to race header with a short ram intake? Does anyone have a tune?
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
If you want to run a Hondata basemap, you can use the CAI and Skunk2 header calibration. Just be sure to check for knock right away depending on which octane you have, and don't go crazy on the first drive, make a datalog and look it over after a 20-30 drive with one wide open throttle (WOT) pull in third gear from 2500-8000rpm. Chances are it will need some substantial adjustments to get it dialed, so make a datalog and look it over before you get too wild with the driving.
If you want to do something a little more custom let me know and I can help you with it. There is a long way and short way to do it, I always recommend the long way if you plan to keep the mods you have for a quite a while. if you plan to change something in the near future, do the short way and then spend the time to do it right when your mods are set.
Let em know if you have any questions.

Ya, I would love some help. I ordered my header and I waiting for it to come and would love to have a tune for it when it comes.
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
Sounds good. Which intake do you have?
Is your complete package just the intake and race header? Stock exhaust?

yes, stock exhaust.
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
Okay. Do you want to do a quick tune on it for now while you wait for the header, and then retune it once the header is on. Or just wait for the header and then do a complete tune on it? Let me know, and also let me know which SRI you have.

Right now I am running AEM SRI (tune) on my car and have been running it for the past 4 months. I have the Mishimoto Ram air intake on the car. I think it would be best to just wait for the header and then do a complete tune on it. Are you going to want data logs? Also, Do you know a rough estimate on how much hp my car will make?
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
Okay. Yes we will need datalogs, that's the only way to get the data needed to dial the tune for you. To tune it right, it will probably take around 10-12 revisions, but if you're strapped for time we can do it a quicker way which would be maybe 6-8 revisions. If you need it done quicker than that, I can make educated guesses on cam angles and stuff and tune it for that, which would be maybe 3-4 revisions.
As far as power, it's hard to say. I have the Virtual Dyno software so we can try running some pulls through that to see. The two variables will the Mishimoto intake and the stock exhaust. The concern with the Mishimoto intake is the placement of the intake, the intake are temps will be warm all the time because it will be drawing hot air from the back of the engine and header. Depending on how hot it gets where you live, it will rob a lot of power in the warmer months of the year. Right now it won't be too bad because the ambient temp is cold. But I would guess the intake temps will still be around 80-90*F right now and probably close to 140* in traffic when the weather is hot. What is the normal temperature range for your area? Did you get the optional heat shield they sell for that intake?
With reasonable intake temps right now, you should be between 205-210whp if we tune it the proper way. Without data from each cam angle, I can't really build a proper cam angle map for your combination. I can make some educated guesses, but the data tells us exactly what your car likes and where. Also depends on what octane fuel you run and all that too, are you running 91 or 93?

I did not get the heat shield but I would defiantly get it to lower temps. I live in Maryland so I get all different types of temps. I try and run 93 but sometimes if pumps only have 91 I put that in. If we were to do tuning how much would it cost?
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
Okay. Yeah I don't know how much the heat shield would really help. I just looked at the video on their site to get an idea of what you had and they show an optional heat shield. We can always see how it looks and go from there. With the filter going to the back of the engine though, it's almost certain to be very hot in the summer months. If you get stuck in some traffic, say on a 100* day, the temps will rise while you're stop and I've seen them in the 140s while sitting at idle. They will cool a little while moving, but probably only get down to 120* just because the air is hot and so is the engine bay. When it's that hot, the ECU is pulling fuel and spark to compensate for the less dense hot air, which results in less power. Plus at those temps you have the AC going most likely, so you have really hot air and the load of the AC compressor on. Honestly though, with as fast as the car will be with the race header, I don't think you'll be worried about too much power loss when it's hot. You will probably be surprised how quick it will be with the race header and a tune.
I don't ask you guys for money on this stuff. If you're happy at the end and want to throw me a few bucks that's great, if not, that's fine too. Money doesn't dictate the help I give you guys or the level of detail.

sweat, so what should be the process? Is there a number that I can use or something better to get in contact with you when the header comes in?
Re: 8th gen civic, skunk2 header, short ram intake
All the dialogue has to be done here in the forums per forum rules. So just make a post in here, I'm subscribed to this thread so it will send me an email if I'm not on at the time.
As far as the process, let me know when the header comes in, and let me know at that time when you plan to install it. Then I will put together the first calibration to get you started and begin the tuning process. And we will discuss the process more at that time and make sure you're on board with all the datalogging that needs to be done and the driving style for them.
