CEL Coming On 98 Civic

Post by RMilesS300 »

Hello,

I've got a P28 with an S300 installed, and I've connected it to a 1998 Civic CX with an automatic transmission through a conversion harness. I understand that hondata is for manual transmissions, essentially I'm trying to be able to just idle in neutral right now and tune it later when I do an MT swap.

The CEL blinks on and off whenever the key is turned or the engine is on, but there are no codes. During the time I idled it, it seemed to be in limp mode. Any ideas on what could be the cause of the issue?

Again, I'm just trying to wring out issues before I actually do the swap.

Thanks

What code is it blinking? When you say no codes, I assume you mean no codes through SManager?

That's correct, there are no codes though SManager. The datalogging works fine as well.

The CEL blinks in a pattern, 2 long blinks then a short blink before a longer break, then repeats the cycle.

21 is the VTEC control solenoid. If your CX has not had an engine swap, there is no VTEC, which is why the light is on. Go into SManager and disable VTEC.
