Underdrive pulleys!!!
Underdrive pulleys!!!
I really want to put the underdrive pulleys on my 05 rsx type s myself but I cannot find any god damn online directions to do it. Does anyone know where the hell to find that info? I know It can't be that difficult but I want to make sure that I have everything that I need before I jump into this. Any info would be awesome.
05 RSX Type S, Vivid blue pearl. DC sports R/H,AEM intake, HID's, !7" 10 spoke gunmetal rims w/ TOYO'S, Alpine 9833 deck with 2 12's out back powered by 1200 big ones.
First suggestion is to stick with the stock crank pulley. The aftermarket ones generally don't have a dampener on them.
Part of the reason you don't see any howto's on this is because it's...
1) simple as hell
2) intimidating if you don't think it's simple as hell
Pick up a helms manual or similar and go to any section on replacing a motor accessory like the alternator. Go to the section on removing the serpentine belt it points you to. Remove the serpentine belt. When the belt is off, replace the accessory pulleys. Skip the crank pulley because aftermarket crank pulleys are generally bad and it's really hard to get off too. Replace the belt.
When getting the belt off, you will need a good strong wrench or socket with a breaker bar to untorque the belt from the auto tensioner. You should take the belt off the tracks of the pulleys with SOMETHING BESIDES YOUR FINGERS. If for some reason the auto tensioner springs back into play from say the socket breaking or slipping off the tensioner, your fingers that get between a belt and pulley will either be broken or come clean off.
