07 SI tuning help
New to honda tuning, but have done several chevy's using hptuner so not new in general. I have a 2007 si coupe that i just installed a hybrid racing cai and it has a skunk 2 3" exhaust as well. I have tried several base calibrations and all them result in an afr of that starts skyrocketing to 18 about 15 seconds after start up, i killed the engine but it was starting to fly up from there. I need a good base map to start with, can anybody help?
and if it helps i am in between tucson and phoenix in az, so its hot!!!

Re: 07 SI tuning help
I can help you with it if you want. Are you planning on adding any type of cat pipe or race header, or is this the setup for the foreseeable future?
If you plan on keeping it this way for a while, it would be good to tune it one cam angle at a time. If you plan on adding some type of header or cat pipe, I would start you on a completed file and make the necessary changes for now. Then once you add that header or whatever, do it properly by tuning each cam angle properly.
Let me know your plans and we can go from there.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
For now just the intake and exhaust, I may have to replace this block soon as it’s got 165k on it. I’m down for the individual cam tuning as I’ll be able to see what’s going on and should need little help down the road. Thanks for the help
Re: 07 SI tuning help
Sounds good. We'll see how it goes.
Here is the first file. So for datalogs, we need them to be 20 minutes of stop and go type driving as much as possible. On the drives, we need one WOT pull in third gear from 2500-8600. If you want the rev limiter lower just let me know. But take this one for a drive and we'll get to work on it.
Let me know if you have any questions. This first one is on the 0* cam with vtec at 5500.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
Sweet, I’ll download it and run either tonight or tomorrow. Few questions to make sure I get good data. I live in a rural subdivision a good ways from city driving, I can simulate some stop and go out here from 0-45ish no problem, will that be ok? And I read that using the flashpro itself to datalog is better than recording on a laptop, correct? I still plan on having live monitoring with my laptop to be safe of course
Re: 07 SI tuning help
Just do the best you can on the stop and go driving. We just don’t want highway driving with cruise control set. Drive one way, then turn around or something often. It will take roughly 10 revisions to get it all dialed, so find a process that doesn’t drive you nuts and we’ll make it work.
Yes, datalog with the button on the FP, but feel free to watch everything on the laptop. Just be sure to send me the datalogs from the FP internal memory. The FP samples at a much higher rate, which gives us more data.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
here is the log, let me know if it will work or i need to re-do it tomorrow, the car felt so different in the higher rpms with a smother crossover and pulled off to look at gauges and thought i went up to red line but only hit 8k as i was looking for javalina that were crossing the road so i shifted a sec or so after seeing the shift light.

No problem, looks really good for a start. Here is the next one, I made a few ignition adjustments for knock and some fuel adjustments all over. This will still be the 0* cam angle but with vtec at 4000 now.
Same type of drive, and the WOT pull from 2500-8600.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
Sweet, downloaded and will run it shortly here. Looks like a hot humid run today with rain clouds rolling in. Should I run the rpms a bit higher for my stop and go? I normally drive as I did cause I care about gas mileage but if a few k more rpms help with the tune I have no issue doing that.
Re: 07 SI tuning help
Yeah if you can shift higher in the rpm range that helps get us more data. But for the bulk, drive like you normally would, then do some higher rpm shifts too. Vtec is at 4000, but it won’t come on until you go WOT. So if you run some shifts up to 5000 or so here and there thats is great. Or run around in third gear to keep the revs up around 4500 rpm too helps. You can make the datalogs 30 minutes if you want, we just want at least 20 minutes to get good averages.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
That's good. Yeah it will get better as we go, we haven't even scratched the surface yet.
Here is the next one, we will be on the 15* cam now with vtec at 4500. Same driving style, and the third gear WOT pull.

Re: 07 SI tuning help
This datalog is the same one you posted on Tuesday. Can you double check in the FP memory to see if you can find the one you made today?
