VTC on decel
Re: VTC on decel
I gotcha. Yeah legally they can't sell used cats, but some recyclers do. You might try to buy one off eBay or something and play with that. Then you have your stock one in case. It does say it necks down to 2.5" on their site. If you do go with a header, I highly recommend getting a header stud kit that replaces the bolts that go into the head like this one https://www.realstreetperformance.com/s ... 2-063.html . It will make your life easier down the road, trust me.
With how the EPA is cracking down on shops right now, and California's long standing policies, it would be hard to get a CARB sticker on this thing. It would definitely be a viable option for sure if it did, but it would be tough.

Decided to break out the welder. I think I will need the tune looked at again once it's back together. Still running the cat, but nothing is less than 2.75" now. Almost ported the exhaust while still in the car. There is a lot that can be removed, even with the stock header.EFICU wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:46 pm I gotcha. Oh, and I wrapped the headers down to the cat.

Ok, I got everything done and went for a ride. I already love it. The wrap all the way down to the Cat made a big difference. Took away a lot of the extra sound in cab.EFICU wrote: Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:46 pm I gotcha. Yeah legally they can't sell used cats, but some recyclers do. Looks like it did change a few things. I made some fuel and ignition adjustments for the new setup. Take this one for a spin and we'll see how it looks.

Car is feeling great, so much more low/mid power. And I am loving the sound, quiet til I want it to be loud.EFICU wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:22 am Looks like it did change a few things. I made some fuel and ignition adjustments for the new setup. Take this one for a spin and we'll see how it looks.

Looks really good. I made a couple 1-2% changes because I'm OCD, but it looks killer. Knock was gone on this one, we might be there. Take this one for a spin when you can and we'll see how it looks.

A bit more aggressive this drive.EFICU wrote: Mon Jun 21, 2021 7:16 pm Looks really good. I made a couple 1-2% changes because I'm OCD, but it looks killer. Knock was gone on this one, we might be there. Take this one for a spin when you can and we'll see how it looks.

Looks about as good as it gets on that one man. WOT fuel was dead on and the part throttle trims looked great. I think we're there.
Looking through your old calibrations, I don't see that we ever got to try the sport pedal map that I have. If you want to give it a shot I'll attach it below. It basically tightens up the pedal to throttle body relationship some. Either way, make some datalogs over the next few days just to make sure everything is good and no knock or anything pops up. But Rev11 looks like it's the final one unless something pops up in your datalogs in the next few days.

😎 Weeeeee!!!!!👍 She's running great. The 2800 to 4500 rpm's feels so much better now. I might have to run out to sears Point raceway tonight, if I'm not too tired.

Nice, great to hear!
Yeah if you go, remember to keep the hood open to get as much hot air out on the staging lanes. Not sure how hot it’s supposed to be in Sonoma, but it wouldn’t hurt.
Let me know how it goes if you make it.

I'm impressed with the new air inlet temps. Most of the time I notice a 5*-10* F low temp. The header wrap definately helped there too.EFICU wrote: Wed Jun 23, 2021 8:51 am Nice, great to hear!

What RPM do you think this motor is good for if I upgraded the oil pump?

That's good. Yeah it makes a big difference with these well designed intakes. They work well and keep the temps cooler which is nice.MM082001 wrote: Mon Jul 05, 2021 4:25 pm I'm impressed with the new air inlet temps. Most of the time I notice a 5*-10* F low temp. You will run into valve train limitations and rotating assembly concerns according to some people if you go over 9000. From what I've seen, 9000 is just about the limit whether you have the oil pump or not, 8600 is the limit without of course. You won't pick up any extra power from revving higher, it would a purely fun type addition to your setup.
Datalog looks great! Had some knock pop up, some in your 5th gear cruising, so I made an adjustment there and one on the high cam. Give this one a go and we'll see how it goes.
