2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
It's happening near redline so you won't notice it physically. You won't usually notice a knock in the car physically, you would probably feel a misfire, but not a knock.
I made a couple changes in this one for ignition to address the knock we see. Make some datalogs with this one and see if you get any knock now.

Ya ok. I see it now where the knock is happening. I was only looking at the graphs and where timing was retarded-was looking on the knock tab. Was not looking at the sensor list. And yes I understand that it would feel more like a misfire. :0)

Hello. Hope you had a good weekend. Finally feels like summer up here! Drove the car a bit today. Saw on the app that there were a few knocks. Couple while steady cruise and a could under higher load/rpm. Also on different cylinders. I've also noticed the intake air temperature sure gets up there. I feel like I need to do something about that. I've attached a couple logs from today. Thank you.

Pesky little knocks. I made some changes for them. They were all in one small area, and one it WOT. Nothing major.

Thank you.
I received the test pipe and installed it today. Took it out and captured a couple logs. Sure noticed a sound change. Much more free flowing. I was looking at the center pipe diameter compared to the test pipe. My gosh is that ever a size reduction. The intake air temperature was getting up there too today. +30 Celsius outside.
I've attached the logs. I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. Didn't really see or feel anything out of the ordinary while driving.

Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Nice. Yeah it's definitely a difference and a very nice piece for sure. There is no better option for the stock manifold test pipe than the Berk for sure. Overall it looks pretty good. It leaned out in a few spots, including the mid range on WOT. So I made some changes, we'll see how it is on this next one. We had one knock somewhere, but it wasn't recorded on the datalog, so we'll keep an eye out for it.afauser wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 7:47 pm Thank you.

Went for a drive last night. The log is a bit long though. 37 mins or so. Looks like one knock around 10 minutes in. I wasn't able to do a WOT run until later on in the drive because 90+% of the drive was within the city. Hope this one is good enough. Let me know if I need to do another. Thank you for your time

Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Yeah one little knock on takeoff in first gear, probably a fluke, but I touched up the ignition right there.
Fueling looks really good. Take this next revision for a run and we'll see how it looks.

Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Thank you for the update. Took it out last night. This one is a bit longer again. Couple knocks showed up. Little gremlins are so persistent and do not want to go away! hah Car feels really good though. This morning on my way into work I was in 4th and stepped on it slightly to get up to speed and it felt like it just wants to go. No hesitation. Its great!

Yeah there always seems to be little things here and there. That's why I stick with you guys so we can find any hidden gremlins.
So I've been doing a lot of work with my other customers on cam angles for part throttle driving. I made some changes to your part throttle cam angles, see if the car feels any better on the part throttle driving as far as a little more power in that 2000-4000 rpm range. Just under normal acceleration, see what you think. It won't change anything on the WOT stuff, so your normal driving range see if you notice just a little more power or feels like it's torquier if you will. Other than that, I cleaned up that knock area, which is one of the most sensitive areas, so we will see how it goes on this one.

Driven a few times now with this update. Not a single knock. I've tried driving it easy and "spirited" with no issues. Maybe it leaned out slightly midrange in the WOT run? Its between the 7:30 and 8:00 marks... It feels good overall. I can see what you did with the VTC angles. Used to run around 30 when cruising and now its 20. Also see that it jumps up to 40 after VTEC and taper off from there. Thanks

Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Nice, no knock! Yeah I noticed the lean out in the mid range on the last revision, I was going to compare it with this datalog one you posted to see if it continued to do it. I like to verify things like that before you go making a bunch of changes, otherwise you can really get out of wack. I made some fuel changes in this next one for that area, other than that I left everything else alone. Yeah I was doing some testing on my car and noticed how much more mid range it has with the cam angle more like how yours are now. I used to stick to the 30* on most cars because it makes the ecu focus on one cam angle for part throttle, but after feeling the new method on my car I have been utilizing it in the other cars I am working on and everyone seems to have good feedback. Feeling the difference on my own car really sold me. Yours is a little different than how I do it now, but your car demands fuel differently due to the elevation, so I followed the data on yours to try to get you the most mid range part throttle that you use everyday. Hopefully it felt a little better.afauser wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:41 pm Driven a few times now with this update. Not a single knock. I've tried driving it easy and "spirited" with no issues. Here is the next one for you. We'll see how it looks. Post a datalog soon so we can look over the fuel we talked about. Other than that, we're getting close I think.

Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
Great, thanks for the quick response and update! Yes it does feel good in the midrange. That's what we need around town. :0)
I'll post the log in the morning. I'll just get up a few minutes earlier and do the log before getting to work. I live between a couple highways so its easy enough to do the 3rd gear run without issue.

Sounds good! Glad the changes worked out, feedback from you guys always helps, so thank you for that. We’ll see how it looks tomorrow.
Re: 2008 Si Sedan map suggestions please and thank you
I didn't realize the log wasn't recording on my way in. Must not have held the button long enough. I'll try to do a drive on my way home this evening and soo how it goes. 1 knock did come up but I can't pin point exactly where it showed. Oops. I feel like a putz.
