p1457 error code after boost by gear install

Post by weltall »

i hooked up the gm solenoid to b21 on the ecu (as per instructions)
after driving for a couple times i now get the p1457 error code on my return trip home
even after restetting it
so i looked in the ep3 service manuall and (pdf format) and searched for the code
one of the tests for the evap cansiter check is to ground out b21
and im thinking the intstall may have had somting to do with it

one wire goes to the b21 wire on the ecu connector yellow/blue
the power wire comes from the ignition wire in the steering colum yellow/black-(i believe the colour that is)

also ill include the text from the honda service manuall

evap canister purge valve test

1. disconnect vacuum hose from the EVAP canister purge valve and connect a vaccum pump to the hose

2. turn the EVAP canister purge valve on with a honda PGM tester , or connect ECM connector terminal B21 to body ground with a jumper wire

"wire goes to female side of connectro"

3. turn the ignition switch on (II)

4. apply vaccum to the hose

(does the valve hold vaccum?)

YES got to step 5
NO the cansiter purge valve is okay go to step 10

5 turn the igntion off

6 disconnect the EVAP cansiter purge valve 2p connector

7 check for continuity between connector terminal 2 and body ground

YES go to step 8
NO repair open wire between the EVAP canister purge valve and b21

any way it goes on for about three pages

here is a link to d/l the service manuall

hope fully you can help me out
and i though these cars ddint use the purge valve

You cannot have b21 connected to both the solenoid and to the stock location...it is an either or situation. If you are using it for boost control then you must disconnect that wire from the emissions equimpent it is operating.

makes sense now thanks spunkster
so i should just cut the wire and cap it?
btw will my evap continue to operate? (i mean not throw a cel after doing this?)

my b21 is still hooked up fine. i just tapped into the wire for boost control. didnt cut it

just make sure you have a good connection that is well insulated and isnt grounding out anywhere. make sure all wires are well protected (you may have to pull them out to check as they could of been scratched somewhere and grounding out)

i have done this on kpro version 1-2-1-1 (the one with the odb bug)
i get the code wether it is disabled or enabled
odb2 and the two o2sensor blocks
and with earlier versions i dont get this code i think unless i leave everything enabled

hi, i have confirmed the same deal, i get the same code. it happens when obd2 is enable, i have the b21 wire just wrapped around the wire, i dont think cutting it from the ecu is right since ur it still needs to read from the ecu.... ...so it would be great if u guys could fix it as u guys always pulled through/...thank you

i pretty much ahve the same setup
550cc
greddy kit
ep3
fmic
kpro
it takes about 150 miles to go on

(also on a side note, what activation pressure should i have if the lowest boost i go is 8lbs and highest is 10.5 and my spring is 7lbs.. my boost by gear starts to boost cut after (it works fine before) 100miles or so and i have tried a bunch of activation pressures)
