KPRO problem

Ok I have a 05 civic si and just got my Greddy kit installed with Rc 550 injectors and Kpro downloaded the latest version and loaded the proper base map.Now when I start the car it idles at 1500 for 10 seconds and drops down then starts to surge fron base idle to 22 or 2500 then back down and keeps doing this.I have checked for a vacume leak and nothing as the car is new only 4000 miles on it and check my lines that i added for the BOV,turbo actuator and boost gauge.I need some help!!!

KPRO surge?

Posts: 721 already did that the car is a 05 with 4000 miles on it and I checked all the hoses I added like BOV,turbo acuator and boost gague?

Posts: 1,841 where did you tap the line in the brake booster i imagine ?

also it dose this constantly right? cause if it stops after the car warms up your fine

just make sur that everything that plumbs into the intake manifold (after the throttle body) is nug and isnt loose

this same thing happened to my buddy after the did his kit and it turned out that it was b/c he kept blowing the vacummlines off his oil catch can and bov

another thing is make sure you have the right kpro cal in there it would cause somethihng like that cause if you have the 440 cal but are running 550's it will surge a bit to burn off the excess feul

Posts: 1,841 either you have blown off a hose (please go check) or there is something keeping you throttle bdy open

also look at you idle tab in kpro and try adjusting the slider in that portion
the help file in kpro will give you a good idea of how it affects idle

for fluctuating sugres the common problem is a vaccum leak and since you boosted now i believe you may have poped on of those off when going into boost yes even if the car is brand new
they arent that secure
i have to secure mine with saftey wire if thats any indication of how bad it is

that where adjusting the slider in kpro comes in
and it is possible but then again i dont know about the feul rail caus i dont have one yet (damn kids why do they have to eat)

Posts: 1,841 the green key is fine youll have to go to a dealer for that

im looking at the greddy 550 cal right now to see if i can come up with an idea

and you checked ALL your lines right not just the new ones you installed

the pcv line is known for coming loose it is located on the left side of the intake man and runs to the idler pulley area

Posts: 1,841 also are you reloading the map eachtime you are moving the slider ?
you may also wanna try reloading the greddy 550 map that included with kpro and d/l the new version form them if you havent done so

also i just realized this while looking at mine make sure your injectors are FULLY seated into the intake manifold cause if one of those isnt fully seated it will allow air to get in there and cause a surge(CHECK THIS NOW!) cause i vaugley remember this happening to a buddy of mine with a bseries swap in his crx

Posts: 721 someone said to change the gas octane once on here before running your engine if you didnt have premiun do you think this could cause anything?I never changed it and I have low grade in now but I also didnt see where to change it.

Posts: 1,841 did you install the silver spacers that came with the injectors and the new studs? cause if not it is going to angle the injectors enough to allow air to get in

the thing that will cause this is more air than idle will allow getting in past your throttle body
ie a bad seal on the intake man gasket,throttle body gasket, injector o rings are not installed / not fully seated , leking lines coming off the 90 degree tit on the man as well as the other line on the right hand side of the intake man

keep looking youll find it (im just giving you the places to look)

can you buy race gas local? if so fillup on that shit it will bring the overall level to around 93

also there isnt a place i know of in kpro that lets you select octane levels


there are two different stock based tunes for that


this could be the reason ( just called the guy who did mine a feww yearsback and he remembers the car ildeing funny and i was getting detonation)

Posts: 721 yes installed the spacers and studs.Look at all lines again and the injectors and all look ok?
When the car was running the real time display showed only 3 on the duty and the surge matched the injector

Posts: 1,841 the reason it matched was b/c when more air enters the motor the duty on th injectors will increass bc the car thinks you are getting on the throttle and allowing more air to flow in the motor

does tps match the surge that would tell me if the throttle plate is opening a bit

Ok today before I fly out I added NOS 6 point octane boost to my gas and it still surges from 1000 to 2000 and now I am getting blue smoke from the tailpipe?Any ideas?

It sounds like a vacuum leak. If you are also getting smoke there is some other problem...I would recommend takign the car to a mechanic.
