O2 sensor P0134 code but everything seems perfect

Post by sme_Ben »

Car: Australian ED civic sedan with a K24A3 from an AUDM CL9
KPRO: KRPO V3
Software version: V4.4.4.0 Build: 1669 Windows 10
ECU Part Number: 37820-PRD-013 2090-400100
Calbration: Attached
I got the KPRO from a known working EP3R
Using a DC5R engine harness and CJS wiring conversion harness, primary o2 only, no secondary

Cant get a reading from my O2 sensor on my k swap, all info here is while the car is idling, not driving, didnt want to drive it without closed loop working. The o2 voltage stays at 0.0v in the kpro and after a couple minutes it throws a P0134 code which is for o2 sensor not responding and fuel status changes to 8, if i disable p0134 code then it stays in open loop and never goes to closed loop no matter how long the cars been idling for, it stays fuel status 1. I have back probed the A6 and A16 pins at the ecu and the o2 sensor is giving a randomly fluctuating voltage around 0.5-1v(I understand these use current for the reading though) but it still doesn't register in the kpro software, it stays 0.0v and the current stays at -37.0mA. I've attached a pic of the sensor readings, extra details below:
- no secondary o2
- brand new denso 234-9005 sensor
- Ive traced all the wires back to the correct pins on the ecu with a multimeter, A6 for signal+ and A16 for signal-
-getting voltage at the o2 sensor heater wires and no error codes for o2 heater, voltage at A22 for heater signal also
- wiring on the o2 sensor plug matches with the correct wires on the sensor

Bonus question: Not getting the car tuned yet, just want it running well enough to drive atm, can I get an external wideband, so long as its in the drop down list in kmanager, and use it for closed loop without tuning even though i have a kpro3 and kpro4?

Any help would be awesome, cheers

You need to try this ECU I a known working vehicle and see if it can read the factory wideband correctly. With a version 3 K-Pro you cannot run closed loop from an after market wideband.

I was worried you'd say that. I dont have access to another vehicle, is there any other option? What would you suggest if I put the ecu in another car and it worked?

If it works in another vehicle then you have a wiring issue that needs to be resolved.

So out of curiosity the other day I pulled the primary o2 sensor out of my CL9 accord euro, re-pinned the plug to match the k20 and put it in my k swap and it worked! The sensor is the same as other k series wideband sensors.

So after all that it just turns out that my brand new o2 sensor was no good and was the cause of my issue, I've got a new one on the way now
