Updating Firmware

Post by jr_deleon »

I haven’t attached my car to KManager in a while (last drove the car in June) so I did not have the latest version of KManager.

Today, before I went to the car, which I replaced the engine and transmission (during the time it hadn’t been driven), I updated to the KManager 4.4.4, which updates the firmware.

I got to the car and connected the USB. It connects to the laptop, says the usual “ECU connected, press F10 to datalog) but then a pop up shows (updating the firmware). Once I click “OK”, it disconnects the ecu and nothing happens. I sit there for a few minutes then turn off the car and turn the ignition back on..EVU doesn’t connect to the laptop. If I reboot the laptop, then it will connect but it gives me the same sequence as above (connects, update firmware pop up, disconnects).

My issue is trying to understand how it updates the firmware without the ignition on. Is there a process I am supposed to follow in order to get this done so I can start datalogging? I want to do it the right way so I can get going with no issues, and so if I run into this in the future I’ll know what to do.

Unplug the ECU form the Vehicle and let it update the firmware with only USB connected, once it updates, then plug it back in tto he car and you should be able to use is as normal.

Ah I see. I will try that out later and see how it goes. Thank you very much.
