Hello,

My friend was sold a used KPro V4 05-06 unknowingly as a 02-04 (since it's in a PRB ECU). The jumper/adapter harness wasn't included. He is currently using it in his K24A2 swapped EK with 99% success. Everything seems to be working except VTC which seems to stay at zero no matter what is commanded. Is there a way that we could fix this easily so he could continue to use this ECU? It seems another user has potentially had success in this thread here but it is a bit confusing.

Alternatively, I'm looking to perform a K swap here in the future with a K20Z1. Would I be able to use his ECU with my Z1 wiring harness and this KPro Jumper? I would much rather use the Z1 harness that I already have and maybe save my buddy some heartache by purchasing his KPro. If not, would a Z1 to A2 jumper/adapter harness with a 02-04 KPro and VSS converter by the only way?

I forgot to mention that his K24A2 has a 50deg VTC gear and a PNC solenoid. I'm unsure if this makes any difference.

The K-Pro for the 05-06 is only for use in an 05-06 RSX, and should not be used for engine swaps.

Unfortunately he will not be able to use this ECU for this application. I would recommend that he sell this to someone that has an 05-06 RSX, and they will have to get the adapter harness as well. Then he can purchase the correct K-Pro/ECU for his vehicle.

Just wanted to post an update. We got it to work. For anyone looking for a solution to running an 05-06 RSX KPro V4 in a 02-04 K24A2 swap you'll need to ground pin B23 (by de-pinning) to get VTC working.

Why are these versions of KPro not able to be used in a swap when they work fine?

I have a full K20Z1 swap (engine, transmission, harness) and the KproV4 for 05-06 RSX-S and I have not been able to get an answer from anyone why it cannot be used in a Kswap build. All the companies I have asked just say that you can't use the 05-06 RSX Krpo in anything but the 05-06 RSX but don't explain why. If you have the skill and ability to look at a wiring diagram and repin something to make it work, that seems like the most logical way to get it to work. I am not sure why no companies make a conversion harness that works with this ECU.

I will be swapping the K20Z1 into a DC2. Can you explain a little more what you had to do to get the VTC to work? You just depinned B23 on the engine harness? Also what conversion harness did you use in your Kswap?
