S300 Fan C - radiator override

Post by Lyle_57IAL »

Hi guys,

Currently have three relays switching 3 auxiliary fans. Will there be any problem switching these all three relays by “commoning” up the native on the relay coil and switching / triggering by the FanC Hondata function ?

Cheers :)

If you are concerned about it, you could use a separate relay to activate the other 3 relays.

Yes I am aware of this option, however would prefer not to go down that path due to the extra complexity.

Do you know (or can Hondata supply) a current rating for the Fan C internal dry contact ?

The current for a relay coil varies based on the relay. We know that the FANC was designed by Honda to run one relay. So running anything other than one relay with approximately the same coil current as a Honda fan relay is unknown territory. Whereas the relay rating and fan current is fairly easy to find out. So either run one relay that can handle the current of all three fans or use a conventional or solid state relay to control the coil side of the three relays.
