Warm Start Lean Condition

Post by Evan214 »

My car leans out really bad (20+AFR) when I turn it off and back on after driving it for any period of time. I have to let it set a few hours in order for it not to occur on start up. My ECT/IAT compensation for the temperatures during the warm startup are zero'd out. When datalogging during the issue, IAT.c% and ECT.c% show 0-1% in the display section. I am running closed loop, and S.term/L.term correction values are also 0-1% range.

-Does not occur ever on cold start (starts rich, leans out to expected range)

-Issue disappears 30 seconds or so after holding the RPM's higher or driving around, after that afrs return to expected range at idle (ECT.c%/IAT.c%/STrim/LTrim still at 0-1%, same as when issue is occuring, so I don't believe its a issue with my tables)

-Issue does not disappear unless I hold RPMs up a bit - at a stop, or driving. Then after it resolves, If i cycle the key even for 2 seconds it returns (not sure if heatsoak would occur that rapidly?)

-Fuel Pressure is good during issue

-Usually doesn't occur for first two weeks of summer when I pull car out, but then it sticks around until I store the car later in the year (even during cooler nights and into late fall when temperatures are cooler)

I have two datalogs, one of cold start, and one of hot start, I can get one at idle when car is warmed up next time I get it out. Normally hits 20-21 AFR, this datalog only hits 17-18. Just wondering if someone can spot what I am missing here.

Thanks!

If you have zeroed out the fuel compensations for IAT and ECT then that would explain why it is doing this as they are there specifically for these conditions.

Why no closed loop operation? I think it is injector dead times, but the calibration would help.

Believe it was heat soaked Injectors incase anyone encounters same issue. I replaced them for ID Injectors for other reasons as well and this cleared up my issue.
