Strange behavior of E20 (EVAP bypass)

Post by Oside Jimc »

I recently wired in a dual stage nitrous kit and found an issue with E20 (EVAP bypass) which is being used to drive the 2nd stage. After install we noticed that the output was always active. After checking the "invert output" the relay was no longer energized. This was wired in the same manner as the 1st stage (current sink via ECU to drive relay) but the logical operation of the output is reversed. We have been unable to test further as the solenoid fried from being constantly energized but we'd like to resolve this so we don't have issues when we install a new solenoid.

Thank-You

Make sure the input pin is disconnected from the rest of the car. It is best to remove and substitute the pin in the connector.

Can you post the calibration and a datalog?

The car in question happens to be mine. We used E16 for both inputs and E21 for Nitrous 1 and E20 for Nitrous 2. Jim did the wiring so, I know that was done right. Only two wires going to the engine bay from the relays. Basically, it was wired just as the first one was.

Sorry, it all happened so quick, no datalog was able to performed. The calibration is nothing special. Just nitrous 2 enabled and setup accordingly.

I cut the wire and spliced it where it comes out of the ECU so it was totally isolated from the wiring of the car.

Latest release, .7 or so. Picking up a new solenoid Friday evening and will wire it in. If that one blows out, then I pulling the second relay. Will worry about it next week or so.

Here is the cal that I was trying to use. Disabled both Nitrous's for the time being.
