V4 Rev limiter issues

Post by DC5808R »

Hello, I have weird rev limiter issue going on with the v4 version 4.4.2.0...
My upgrade was done with you guys which is from kpro sn # 3219
ecu sn # is 2062-100437 pnd-a01
kpro4 sn #48768

Anyways my issue is that I will hit limiter which is set at 9400rpm in 1st gear but in 2nd gear it will cut me short at around 8200-8500rpms
here is my datalog and kal

My car is a fully built turbo rsx and we have checked all sensors and gapped plugs down to 0.18 with afr being spot on during the weird rev cut...
I have proper ground setup as well. Please let me know if you need a bit more info or is seeing something I'm not seeing that is causing this weird rev limit cut/issue

So I did a sensor overlay log on the rev limiter active overlay and it shows the sensor activating and deactivating at different rpms besides the actual rev limiter which is at 9400rpm. My question is if this is normal? I thought the rev limiter would only activate at the actual rev limit that it is set to?

Is it possible that what you are experiencing is spark blow out? What boost pressures are you running and what spark plug gap are you running?

Highly unlikely, as posted above spark plugs are ngk bkr8eix gapped down to .018 brand new. When getting cut, boost is around 15 - 20psi... The rev limiter activates at weird rpms besides 1st gear it, it will let me go up to the rev limit which is at 9400rpms... Car drives perfectly fine when not in boost or in 1st gear going into boost, but in 2nd gear or other gears, car rev limiter will activate at weird rpms...I believe this is a software issue as me and my tuner is stumped to why it is doing this...

Have you tried disabling the lean protection?

Yes, we have...It's definitely not hitting a lean cut.

Post a datalog with that disabled and post the calibration used for that datalog.

Try going to the online menu and erase the ECU, then key off when it is finished, close the program and reopen it and reupload the calibration.

Try creating a new calibration from the new calibration menu and see if you still have these rev limits. It appears you may have a corrupt calibration.

I would recommend the you try this ECU on a different vehicle using their calibration and see if it has a similar issue.
