hondata and injectors

Post by turbod16 »

using a hondata and 440cc injectors, do I still need a high flow fuel pump and an FPR?

you can live with the stock FRP if your short on money.

You should get a new fuel....as your asking the pump to flow
nearly twice the volume using 440cc injectors.

i'm not trying to skimp on money, just wandering if it was still needed,
my fuel set up is going to be
225lph pump, fpr, 440 cc injectors, I just wasn't sure if using a hondata would require still having to have the pump and fpr, thought maybe that was just for cars using a fmu

The stock fuel pump can flow quite a bit if you keep fuel pressures low. That's one of the advantages to using bigger injectors is you can keep the stock pump.

I was told 440cc injectors are good to about 350whp, but that page says 550cc for 350fwhp (flywheel horse power)

why is that? because of the lower fuel pressure or what

350whp from 440cc injectors on a 4-cyl turbocharged engine would require a fuel pressure of approximately 140psi, which is pretty nuts, and impossible with a stock fuel pump. The stock fuel pressure is somewhere between 40 and 50psi.

Go to this page on RC Engineering's site, and scroll down to the "Fuel Injector Worksheet" section. It will help you properly size your injectors. Turbocharged/supercharged engines will need bigger injectors than NA engines to make the same power output, because their BSFC is generally higher (they use more fuel to produce the same power output). RC Engineering suggests .60 to .65 BSFC for turbocharged engines, so you can use that in their worksheet.
