Going through alot of problems with installation

Post by SIMPLE4012 »

Hey guys. I got my s200 and have been plagues with bad luck since trying the install. My first ecu i had was bad from the start (not hondatas fault), The 2nd had a previous chip and during the removal the ecu got messed up (not hondatas fault again).

Enter today.

My friend had an ecu that was chipped by jdmhondaparts laying round. I opened it up and saw a socket. he told em to keep the ecu. ok cool. But in looking i see that the ecu is automatic. Not 5 speed. and rp17 and 18 are both their and running. So i desoldered both and used ajumper across rp18 like it said to in the manual. Car started and ran with no cell. perfect. but the hondalogger (which i purchased) would not connect. they said that i didnt have the right software or something. wtf? it wouldnt work. for anything. I cant understand it.

also...in all the hussle and bussle and constant removal of chips wore out the socket that the pocket eumulator uses to plug into the socket that is solder into my p28. One pin actually broke. So i need to buy one of those now...damn...

Ok so i was looking at the piece i used for the rp18 jump and i didnt trust the soldering piece i used. So i desoldered and reinstalled the other. I go to start the car...solid cell....wtf? So i run the code.....

7 solids
8 fast....

78? ummmmi never even heard of that and it isnt on the site? Now the car has a cell and wont rev past 4000 rpm's (no im not driving it like this around) please help me guys i am getting very frustrated

ok i got the datalogging issue worked out. I also finally got my wideband all setup so i can move it from car to car and no codes or wiring. Beautiful.

I have a question though....I told a friend to grab the rom emulator socket chip (the taller pointier one) and he broke it. Do need a special one like that to hold roms or will any 28 pin socket work? I need to know asafp please help!

ok new stuff.

got a new ecu to start with. auto p28. I removed rp 17 and rp 18 and installed a jumper across rp18. Install the rest of the hondata stuff:

28 pin socket
y4hc373
j1 jumper
r54 resistor

i burned a rom for my car (00 si, stock b16 map) and the car starts and has a solid code. I try to rev it and it goes to 4000. then stops. I dont understand it. Please help guys. Im really beginning to lose it.

I am pretty sure the manual has the answer to your woes. LIMP HOME MODE. Communication between ECU and Interface box or EPROM problem.

Check the ROM orientation, make sure the notch in the ROM points toward the ECU wiring harness. If you have datalogging, make sure you don't have the serial cable plugged into the interface box when you turn the car on...it will often goof things up.

Failing that, double check your ROM and make sure it's the right version.
