Check Engine light flashes on and then off and then on

Post by zerospeed »

Im having a problem with my p28 and s200..The problem is when I turn my car on the 2nd click and leave it there for abit the check engine light turns on and then off and then on again. I tried using the hondalogger to see what the error codes were but there was nothing there on the list. I have also tried using the service connector to see what the error codes are also but it doesnt want to blink at all... When I start my car after a few seconds the car starts the check engine light sequence and then the car begins to drop rpms and rev back up to warming up revs. I also hear a clicking near the ecu area when the car is dropping rpms. Is there a way to check what the error codes are? I have a conversion harness odb2 to obd1.

i have three ecus with this weird shit. i believe this has something to do with faulty soldering or something...also, the capacitor (220microF) near the sockets looks a little burnt. i think thats the culprit.
does your ecu runs in limp mode too?

spunkster, its a flashing light in the hondata.

My hondata box has a solid red light....I am wondering if its the programmer thats causing the problem. Im thinking its not burning the image correctly because today I got it to work but after i changed the fuel settings again and tried to reburn the chip with the new image its doing the ruff idle and check engine light flashing on and off when its warming up. Also when i have the key on the 2nd click the check engine light flashes on and off but at akward periods and the interface box light remains solid. I tried to check the error codes but the cel remains solid.

You may have faulty wiring in the car that is causing this strange behavior.

I took off the conversion harness and plugged in my old p72 obd2 ecu and I didnt get any CEL...I have also checked the connectivity of the harness and there wasnt any broken connections. As of right now I'm clueless on whats going on with my hondata...Is it possible that my atmel chip is damaged in some way? I am frequently hearing my IAC valve clicking and buzzing when i have the chip plugged in...

I need some help please!!!!
thanks

i dont know if this will help but...i get an ecu like this behavious about 3/5....i noticed my r88 (jdm ecu) or r77(usdm ecu) get super hot and then starts to run in limp with solid cel. i traced that resistor to the output of the CEL in the dash. i installed the shift light LED connected in parallel with the CEL, but i was such a riceboy i connected two more 12v ordinary bulbs to it. out of curiosity i removed the fucking bulbs. now, i dont get solid cels anymore :)

Well see if I do that it will stop the cel light from coming on but how does the cel light affect the way the car runs? I mean isnt the cel light just to let you know something in not running correct? I am guessing that my car will probably still run funny when its on. The jumping of rpms is still going to occur i think. But if anyone could correct me if im wrong that would be great and if anyone could help me figure out why my car is still running like crap that would even be better thanks :?

maybe youre running in limp mode? try revving your car. limp mode has about 3.5cutoff and it runns horrible.

Nah its not running in Limp mode...its revving pass 3.5k...I just cant figure it out...the cel light is just ramdomly coming on and off and the car is dropping rpms and then jumping back up when the car first started....the sound of clicking when the cel comes on....Is it possible that the programmer im using is not inputting the data correctly? im not using the intronic programmer, im using a wilem programmer

Try your ecu in another car, se if the problem persists. Try another ECU with your s200 see if the problem still persists. This will allow you to find where the problem lies.

I have just noticed that when I connected to the ecu with hondalogger or the romeditor while the car is running or when the key is in the on position the cel light turns on and stays solid but when I disconnect from the ecu the cel light turns off. Why is this happening? :?:

Do you have a Dell?

When this happens is the interface box flashing or solid?
