Hondata and inspection question

Post by atropos »

I've been trying to get a solid answer on this:

The car: 2001 prelude

The intended mods:

intake
full exhaust system w/ headers
cams / slight headwork (later on)

First off, which Hondata would make the most sense for this setup?

Secondly, will the Hondata still allow the car to pass NY state inspection? Obviously all the smog sensors etc will remain on the car.

Thanks in advance!

Which Hondata you choose is entirely up to you. You can use the s100, s200 or s300 dependingon what option you want and if you plan to tune yourself.

As for emissions, it will not pass an OBD2 scan as you are using an OBD1 ecu with a HOndata system.

but a proper tune will pass tail pipe testing, if not the visual inspection.

Well thats the issue.. they don't do taipipe tests here, just the OBD-2 hookup, which I imagine would fail instantly. It seems like there are few if any reasonable options for newer cars.

better save a stock ecu, cat, and injectors just for testing purposes.
