I keep getting mixed information about the Over rev code that is set if the engine RPM exceeds the Over rev threshold.

What I want to know are the following:

1. If the engine was set to an over rev limit of 8300 RPM, and the engine was revved to 8400, the code is set ...

What about the ticking sound. I'm recently noticing a ticking sound at idle and I've had FP for over a month now.

It doesn't sound so much as valve tap, but more like some emissions component like the canister purge solenoid (if this car has one) with a heavy duty cycle.
