Re: curious effects in datalog

To my knowledge. When i ran that datalog the only window open was the display window

I.e the one that displays rpm speed etc as a dashboard.

Is the ecu adjusting fuel and spark much quicker than the log - or refreshing at the same rate?

Re: curious effects in datalog

anyone ?

key questions
1, is 400ms gaps between log entries normal - or does this indicate a problem with the Hondata ECU
2, if its normal behaviour can hondata confirm the ECU is actually adjusting fuel / spark in finer increments than this 0.4s gap in the log

Re: curious effects in datalog

to clarify - this is a question about the Hondata Kpro - rather than Virtual Dyno - which is just being used to visualise the data from the Hondata Log

the car is accelerating at around 1000rpm per second in 3rd gear

so 0.4 seconds is equivalent to around 400rpm between data log points in 3rd ...

Re: curious effects in datalog

the car is accelerating at around 1000rpm per second in 3rd gear

so 0.4 seconds is equivalent to around 400rpm between data log points in 3rd gear - and the gaps could be even wider in 2nd gear

i would hope the ECU is actually updating fuel and spark in time increments much smaller than this ...

curious effects in datalog

hi

i had some old data logs from 3rd gear pulls in my car - starting at around 30mph / 3000rpm and finishing in the region of 85mph/8500rpm
(on a closed road of course)

out of interest i loaded them into the "Virtual Dyno" software to see how well they would agree with the real world dyno it was ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

just to confirm the above - i did 2 sets of datalogs in the car - one with each kal - both at steady 70mph indicated vehicle speed

as expected the injector pulse widths are within 10% of each other -
confirming the 4000 fuel table value with the 630cc injector delivers the same fuel as the 2000 ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

thanks again for the reply

If one calibration has injector=310cc and table=1000 and the other has injector=630cc and table=2000 then the injector pulse width will be the same.

ah - ok - so it is reversed from what you would expect - the larger injector has a BIGGER number in the fuel tables ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

The higher the injector size the lower the injector pulse width. So the calibration with the higher fuel table values and higher injector size would be about the same as the other calibration.

thanks again - and i am really sorry if i am just not comprehending something obvious - but

if, per ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

For the calibration listed as 310cc injectors the fuel table values have been increased (roughly doubled). For more information you would have to ask each tuner why they did it that way.

thanks hondata - but that's the bit I'm not following
in the kal with the injectors listed as 310cc the ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

thanks again

here are the fuel trims tabs side by side.
fuel trims compared.JPG

as you can see - apart from 3% on cylinder 2 - they are the same

i think you summed up my question best in your last sentence - perhaps i should have phrased it like that earlier

ie where in the kal settings is ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

thanks again - actually i don't have an issue with the tune - the car is working fine - has been on this kal for 5 years or more now - has as much power as any other of this spec and has not detonated yet. so its works fine.

the issue i am trying to understand is how hondata works so i can use it ...

Re: understanding injector setup page

do you get my question ?

the 310cc injectors have opening time number in the fuel table of around half that of the 630cc injectors - but half the size of injector open for half the time would deliver only 1/4 of the fuel - yet the engine runs fine - so this cannot be right - and in reality both ...
