Would you trust Honda's VTC mechanism?

After checking piston to valve clearances on a race motor with fairly aggressive cams, I know I can safely run 50 deg VTC on the low cam, but only about 31 deg VTC on the high cam. So would there be any negative performance results observed if removing the bypass when using stock injectors?
Performance, no. Unnecessary work, poorer emissions and fuel accumulating between the intake and head, yes.
Thanks for the info! I was just checking if it is cool for those with K swaps ...
