I'm starting to troubleshoot at knock retard that occurs on cylinder 1, which often occurs near a VTEC on-to-off transition. It does not always occur so that makes me think it might be something rattling around. Perhaps, valve lash? I remember my RSX had surprisingly tight exhaust valve lash.

Re: Datalogged AFM values (g/s)
Interesting points and I too wondered if ecu logic is a factor, as much as hardware limitation and temps will be the obvious ones.
Here's a run which shows the AFM.v (blue) hitting 5V limit just before 17:27, which led to a big step up in AFM g/s (red). It stayed at 5V limit, but the g/s is not ...

Re: Datalogged AFM values (g/s)
This is all speculation because I did not work for Honda. In automobiles, analog sensors have diagnostic levels. With a 5V sensor like the MAF, generally the diagnostic levels are < 0.5V and > 4.5V. This is part of the safety system design (ISO-26262). If the sensor measurement wire (analog voltage ...

There’s a lot of slip in that log. The traction control retarded ignition as much as 25 degrees.

Re: A/F Ratio Oscillation
Perhaps, I can help by bringing you through the process I used to look at your log. At around 10:00 in the datalog I noticed something interesting. I've marked the points of interest 1, 2, 3.

Re: feature request: logging ambient temperature
Thank you for the clarification on the FlashPro support of ELM327 protocol. Consequently, that's what I was logging ambient temperature with was a $30 OBD2 ELM adapter. I found a datalog that serves as a good example of how ambient temperature sheds light on what's going on.

Re: feature request: logging ambient temperature
Interesting. Am I correct in assuming the FlashPro does not log via PID? Since the FlashPro uses the ELM327 protocol, would I be able to log ambient temperature (PID 0x40) via the app I was already using?

feature request: logging ambient temperature
It might seem crazy to request this but I was previously logging ambient temperature before I was using Hondata. Consequently, my drive to work can have huge temperature variations. To give you an idea, a small rock chip on the windshield turned into a huge crack in the windshield because of the ...

Re: What is TPK and why did datalogging not stop?
Removing power, updating the firmware and calibration has seemed to resolve the issue. I am willing to caulk it up to a soft-error if Hondata is. For the audience, a soft-error is not a firmware/software bug.

Re: What is TPK and why did datalogging not stop?
Unfortunately, the data-logging failed to stop once again. I went to the store and hit the datalog button. When I got back, I pulled the FlashPro from the car and there was only one datalog. I kind of marked where I shut off my car in the picture below.

What is TPK and why did datalogging not stop?
I've been leaving my FlashPro attached to the car and have logged while taking few drives. I wasn't driving hard so I haven't been pulling the logs after every drive. The other day, I went for a drive and pressed the datalog button and the LEDs seemed to indicate is was not logging so I decided to ...

Re: Another: what base map
Thank you for your reply.
It's probably better to look at why your vehicle was retarding the ignition.
I couldn't agree with you more. Consequently, I am using the 93 octane calibration fine now with no knock retard (with winter gasoline) because I understand why.

I'm a little disappointed that Hondata didn't reply. I was hoping we could open up a discussion to benefit the community.
Unfortunately, I got impatient and figured it out why different 93 octane gasoline has different knock retard. With winter gasoline, I no longer have knock retard and I did not ...

Another: what base map
I had originally used the "93 octane, intercooler" base map but I was getting 4 degrees of knock retard on all cylinders on my first pull. Since I know the gas can be tricky in New England, I switched to "91 octane, intercooler" and have seen very little knock retard.
