Re: S300 Ongoing issues

Solved my issues by replacing the main power wire - see my other post

viewtopic.php?p=138876#p138876

There was a voltage drop at startup, causing the S300v3 to bug out. I'll datalog to see if I still have any of the weird values above, but I think it's resolved.

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

Ok! Update.

So I never sent it in, because I was still suspicious that a voltage drop at starting was causing my issues.

It took a while to find the time, but I replaced my main power wire with a dedicated 2AWG starter wire, and 6AWG wire for the rest of the electronics.

It starts up great now ...

Re: S300 Ongoing issues

I've got the startup idle fixed for the most part, I had to re-set my idle and tune my IACV duty cycle.

Now, if it's around 45* outside, it will kick over and idle where it needs to be like normal.

Issue now is if it's under 40*, it will kick over but idle at around 1000 and slowly build up to ...

Re: S300 Ongoing issues

Well it looks like the battery was still having an issue. I experienced the voltage drop again, and dodgy starting. I've swapped out the AGM battery for a standard one and it starts up on the first crank, even cold. Have not experienced the bugging out yet either on the standard battery, but am ...

Re: S300 Ongoing issues

No, I wanted to rule out any electrical issues.

If that is the next step I'll be sending it in; Should the same RMA# work?

S300 Ongoing issues

Hi,

This is a followup to this thread: https://www.hondata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25009

I've been trying to address issues with my s300 module, but recently I had issues with warm starts. I tracked it down to a weak AGM battery, and was able to recondition it and resolve the voltage drop. Warm ...

Re: B16B crower 402-2 cams, stock inj, intake, exhaust, 95 RON - going lean at WOT

You will need to figure out your wideband before continuing any tuning. Your voltage offset is huge - make sure your +12v signal is good and the ground is the same as the ECU (thermostat housing ground). I have a PLX and adjusted it slightly to get the hondata AFR to match up with what the PLX gauge ...

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

Thank you, I've been trying to drive it and be observant of when the issue occurs.

What will be done if I send it in for RMA again?

Before sending it in again I want to document the issue as best I can below, so maybe I can be pointed in the direction of more testing / logging / troubleshooting ...

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

I'm still dealing with this. When I notice it happening while driving, I turn the car off and back on quickly and it goes away.

I don't see how my car can be causing this if it is this sporadic and it clears up by power cycling. Everything operates normally afterwards.

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

I don't have another vehicle to try it on, and where I am, OBD1 Hondas that would use the S300 don't grow on trees.

And besides, that was done when I sent it in! Which is why I'm miffed that there is so little detail as to the testing that was performed when I sent my unit it. For all I know, it ...

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

I received my ECU from the Hondata RMA, reinstalled it and have been driving the car. Still having the issue.

One thing I tried was to restore my ELD resistors and move my wideband input to D12 since that is unused. That did not help, it's a cleaner install now but has not improved my situation ...

Re: FM Interference when key is at ''ON''

I had the same issue, and still do unfortunately. (I saw your PM about this, thought I would just reply in thread)

Changing to a different radio helped a bit, but lately I only listen to local stations or cassettes on mine. There is still a noticeable change in reception when the ECU is receiving ...

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

Thanks for all your help, the ECU/S300 is shipped off for the RMA. Hopefully the sensor issues can be identified.

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

Serial # is 42965

Here are pics of the soldering on the 1st ECU. It looks a little blobby because I reflowed it, I did this as part of my troubleshooting before swapping to a new ECU. It didn't help, but didn't change anything for the worse either.

Re: S300V3 / P28 ECU issues

Does that really matter here? This same thing happens across 2 ECUs.

HAMotorsports socketed the first one, and it worked without issues up until this stuff started. I got the 2nd ECU from another seller and it was pre-socketed.

Suspecting issues w/ the socket etc, I reflowed the header pins and ...
