Is there any possibility of having the device unlocked online or via Team Viewer or a remote desktop of some sort? Or does the device physically have to be sent for unlocking? Please confirm the process and how it works if it has to be sent to you.....

Thanks for the feedback. So only option is to request a refund from the seller as you initially stated. Sending back to unlock and send back to me including customs/duties will be a waste.
