update... after troubleshooting some more we got the issue fixed. It was a bad connection due to the S300 not sitting correctly on the board. The 3 small pins on the board that connect into the S300 were bent. Once we straightened them, everything worked properly. Tried my S300 in his ECU and it was ...

With both S300's out the ECU's and the USB cable plugged into the S300's it says: online , #2 LED still flashing red and #4 LED is solid green on both S300.

Software version is 2.5 if I remember correctly. Yes, we did try his ECU back on his car. Same thing was happening . Red flashing light and it wouldn't connect. He then brought out his laptop , downloaded the most recent version of S-manager and the same problem still consisted.
