Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

Ok, my throttle plate did not appear to be open but open pushing it closed tighter it would drop my idle. I adjusted the little allen head throttle adjustment screw until the idle was around 500 with the IACV unplugged. I then plugged the IACV in and set my idle according to Hondata, using the IACV ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

Any thoughts on how to get a known good one?

Can you explain what could be wrong with the throttle body?

Yesterday when driving around my car would sometimes start idle surging for a few seconds after stopping for stop lights. Does that mean that underneath all of this, my new IACV from the ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

What problems could a throttle body? I wonder how this problem could appear just from cleaning it lightly while on the engine. Getting a known good P73 throttle body is not that easy to find..

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

I hear the sound of the IACV valve closing, but it does not change the idle much. It is still at around 1500 RPM. I was able to turn the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body. I tried to adjust the idle to around 450 RPM with the IACV unplugged (like we are supposed to set our idle) and I ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

I got an IACV off a 98 Integra LS from the junkyard (according to the Acura part numbers all 96-01 Integra IACV should be the same). Unfortunately, the Denso sticker is worn so I can't verify that it says 6TA on the second row of numbers. The inner diameter of the left air hole is a little smaller ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

What does the purge valve inlet do? I see that Smanager mentions some OBDII cars. My car is OBDI (P28) but I am using an OBDII engine harness.

Also, I have not had a chance to tackle this possible IACV issue yet. I have been busy and not able to find another used IACV, but for now I have turned the ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

Calibrated my TPS. I don't think the gasket is affecting anything. It seals pretty well.

I think the problem may be my IACV. It somehow may have broken due to cleaning. It doesn't seem to close all the way. I think I can tell because when I decrease the IACV duty cycle on S300, the idle drops to ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

Will paper clips fit in the connector pins?

Also, can you explain how to use the software for better calibration?

How do I know if I need a new gasket, and how do I make one?

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

I will calibrate it today. I need to find some pins that go into the connector to read the voltage while it is connected. Where would I find something for that? Calibrate it to 0.48V closed and 4.5V WOT?

Also, the o-ring for the MAP sensor did not look cracked. Should I still replace it? My TPS ...

Re: Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

Today, I removed the IACV and the TB off of the motor and cleaned them both (I removed the MAP sensor but left the TPS on the TB because the gasket was a little cracked when I took the sensor off). First with water and simple green and a brush, then when they were dry I cleaned them with carb ...

Idle Surge Only After Cleaning Throttle Body

After cleaning my throttle body while on the motor with carb cleaner spray (it was thick with black carbon as well as inside the manifold which I also attempted to clean), my car would not start. I soon realized that I sprayed too much inside the manifold and the spark plugs got all wet and dirty ...

Re: Override radiator fan control Question

Yeah, I know what the VTEC pressure switch is for. I also know that I do not have the sensor hooked up because there is no switch in my VTEC solenoid. I was just wondering why the VTP says it is on.

So what did the datalog help you for? Does the tune look good?

Re: Override radiator fan control Question

Ok tested my thermo switch and it turns the fan on at 199 degrees F. I believe I saved a recorded datalog. Let me know if this helps you figure out why the VTP sensor appears on (this does not affect performance at all, I am just curious). How exactly do you read these datalogs? When I open the file ...

Re: Override radiator fan control Question

Okay then if that is true, my thermo switch must not turn the fan on until >200 degrees. I set my FANC to 200 (actually 199 because it changes to 199 for some reason when ever I input 200) and I drove around.. the first time the fan came on was at 200 and so did the FANC indicator. I know that my ...

Override radiator fan control Question

Does anybody know if the override radiator fan control (FANC) disables the OEM thermal fan switch (thermo switch)? For example, if your thermal fan switch turns the radiator fan on at 195 degrees and you have your FANC set to turn on at 200 degrees, will the fan turn on at 195 by the thermal switch ...
