CEL / MIL # 40 it keeps coming on

So recently I've had the Check Engine Light come on while driving, when I turn the car off and turn it back on the CEL goes away. Now when I short the connector and check to see what code it is I have a # 40 come up...but what in the hell is CEL # 40? I have a '01 Type-R running an S200 with a ...

As the other person said a little more eloquently:

1. cut the NEP wire on your stock harness
2. tape off the NEP wire that connects to the ecu
3. wire the side that goes into the car(not the ecu side) into the ECM wire after it passes through the J&S
4. start car and watch tach work

I'm figuring that the ECU adapter that Hondata uses for their integrated plugs has the NEP and ICM wire connected at the ECU, then splits off to different pins at the plugs(since this is designed to fit multiple cars that have slightly different wiring), you need to cut the NEP wire and tap it into ...

Here is a copy and past from when I had this issue, just read the bold section if you just want the answer:

OK....installed a P28 based Hondata stage 2, everything runs fine...then I installed a J&S Safeguard, tachometer stopped working. I hear that you need to install a 1k ohm @ 1/4 watt resistor ...

Ken...I had a similar problem with a fluctuating idle while using the Hondata, we reduced the Idle Air Control duty cycle.

stage 2, difficulty holding Xrpm when launching, drag race

I have a 2001 Type-R, P28 based Hondata stage 2, and a J&S Safeguard. The issue that I have is that when I am launching at the drag strip I rev the engine to Xrpm, which varies from 5-6000 rpm dependent upon track conditions, and after ~1 second the engine starts to miss a little bit and the rpms ...
